Americans know that the only thing that stops bad people with evil in their hearts is a good guy or gal with a gun. And when you take good people with guns out of the equation, criminals rule the streets.
Take, for instance, J’Ouvert and the West Indian American Day Parade in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood. It’s marketed as a family picnic with better music: grandparents in lawn chairs, kids in feathers, jerk smoke in the air, a million people turning Eastern Parkway into Carnival for a day.
But that’s not all it is. Persistent violence has plagued this event. Why? Local political leaders prefer gun control for the little people over empowerment. They also refuse to call out street gangs and their violence.
Because in big cities, gangs are often political contributors and campaign workers. As a result, gun control laws have disarmed those not inclined to cause problems and commit crime. That leaves the thugs and other ne’er-do-wells armed to the teeth to declare open season on anyone they want.

And it happened yet again this year. Before J’Ouvert officially started, a really late night/early morning street brawl produced neck wounds, a face puncture, and a chin slash. A 32-year-old and a 23-year-old took knives to the neck. A 36-year-old got it in the face. A 20-year-old took it on the chin. Minutes later a 25-year-old was slashed across the face a mile away.
One victim was initially critical. The attackers ran. As for arrests? They always get their man on NYPD TV dramas. In real life? Not so often.
NYC just added extra cops and cut the West Indian parade short because the last few years kept ending in blood.
Today it happened again: stabbings before the floats rolled, more gunfire before they shut it down.

The afternoon — the actual parade — was the sequel. A 24-year-old caught a bullet in the buttocks after a fight—“pop, pop,” a witness said. Five minutes later a 37-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 19-year-old man was grazed in both legs at Eastern Parkway and Kingston.
One gun was recovered. One person of interest. Not a suspect, just a “person of interest.” Everyone else vanished into the crowd. Eight or nine people stabbed, slashed, or shot. Nobody wound up dead this year, thankfully. Last year: six shot. In 2024: one man killed on the route.

Is shooting and stabbing people part of the Caribbean culture? It’s supposed to be Carnival costumes, pans, food, and showing off. Monday’s body count wasn’t heritage. It was bad guys who feel emboldened because they know innocent people can’t fight back.
This also isn’t America. You don’t get parade slashings, pre-dawn neck wounds, carjackings, flash-mob smash-and-grabs, riot tourism, and murder sprees that treat sidewalks like a video game in rural America. Gangs and public officials who are terrified of naming the offenders produce a product you can see every year in Brooklyn, one you won’t find at a 4-H show.
New York still sells itself as a gun-control utopia. The laws disarmed the people who obeyed the law, but they didn’t magically hoover up every illegal gun in Crown Heights.
Bad people with evil in their hearts aren’t impressed by ordinances or statutes. They’re impressed by immediate, lethal resistance. Families came for a parade. The thugs came for cover. The good guys were told to leave the means of self-defense at home. Until that changes, next September will be the same movie with a new date.
If certain groups of people really wanted to not be judged for their behaviors they wouldn’t behave the way in which they are judged especially while in groups.
What they really want is no consequences for their behaviors.
The fact that this event is happening at all means that we have way too many unassimilated immigrants in this country.

It is a cultural problem. Ignorant leftists might call that racist, but that would be a dumb response. For example, compare and contrast Haiti with the Dominican Republic: they share the same island and have overlapping ethnic backgrounds, but they developed very different cultures and institutions. Look at the outcomes. Some cultures are better than others.
Someone once asked why we keep importing people from “s_hole countries,” and leftists lost their minds. Now those same people say we can’t send Haitians back there because it’s such an awful country. Hmm…

Its not an inherent “culture of violence” as a location-population-demographic thing, but there is a pervasive underlying “culture of violence” in the Caribbean tied mostly to violent criminal gangs.
The government planned and purposely allows these riots or large scale attacks to happen. They are an effective way to control the population in NYC.
The organized criminal gangs, organize voter drives at election time, for democrat politians. This has been reported in Chicago New York City and Los Angeles.
Recently in Atlanta Georgia, organized criminal gangs publicly complained. About being arrested and charged with crimes. After years of helping the democrat leadership stay in office.
Nothing has changed in 150 years. The same thing was going on in every mayor US city. When the local political leadership, used immigrant gangs to stay in power.
And it really helps when you have a moral collapse in the cities.
In the case of NYC the cops will be slow to react. They know the local DA is hostile to them.

There is something of a major bombshell in that interview that the Karen jurors were too stupid to understand while they were bragging about themselves and trashing the holdout.
One of the jurors admits that multiple nurses on the jury used their experience and medical background to ‘explain’ toxicology reports to the holdout juror.
I showed that clip to a trial attorney who immediately saw it as an admission that the pro-Clancy jurors were using outside information and evidence from outside the trial process to bully a juror toward a particular outcome.

“A shooting at a Michigan mall in July ended when a 19-year-old drew his own pistol and shot a man who had already taken one life and was firing wildly. Now that teen has been sentenced to two years of probation for carrying a gun without a permit.
Martinez Long isn’t old enough to receive a concealed pistol license in Michigan since he’s not 21, but by the time he completes his probation he should be able to lawfully exercise his Second Amendment rights.
The judge admonished Long for carrying the gun and told him he has to think before he acts.
‘Fortunately, you weren’t injured, but nonetheless, you had a gun there in the first place which was poor judgment,’ he said. ‘And what do you need a gun for protection in a mall, in the first place?’
Considering Long ended up using his firearm in self-defense and defense of others, I’d say the judge should be well aware of why someone would need a gun for protection in a mall. It was arguably poor judgment on the part of Long to carry a gun illegally, but the state of Michigan makes it impossible for young adults under the age of 21 to lawfully carry concealed, which is a problem in and of itself.

As part of his probation, Long must complete cognitive behavioral therapy, not possess and guns or ammunition in that period and take handgun safety classes offered by the court.
The Oak Park man is working towards getting his GED and had no prior criminal record. The judge acknowledged the right to self-defense in the case.
