It’s a fallacy that the rights of those who obey the law should be cast aside when no actions are being taken to prevent murderous villains from committing their wicked crimes.
It didn’t take long after a deranged murderer attacked students and teachers at a school-wide mass at Annunciation Catholic Church for Randi Weingarten to call for a complete and total national ban of modern sporting rifles.
Appearing on Morning Joe show last week, Johnson pointedly refused to give a direct answer to persistent questions on whether more police would reduce crime, and instead doubled down on poverty and more gun control.

The Paxton–Cornyn fight is shaping up to be one of the highest-profile Senate races in America in 2026. It’s also the biggest political showdown in Texas. For conservatives, for Trump, and especially for gun owners, Texas is once again ground zero.
Imagine how much more of a threat these people would be to your rights — speech, guns, religion, search and seizure, and lots more — if they were actually competent. At anything.
Much the same as the Biden administration weaponized the federal government’s power against speech it didn’t like or that opposed its agenda, they took a “whole of government” approach to rolling back Americans’ 2A rights, too.
O’Rourke might not regret his call to confiscate and ban Americans’ MSRs. At the same time, tens of millions of law-abiding MSR owners don’t regret dismissing O’Rourke or his insane ideas.
It’s not as if Governor Stein isn’t used to having his vetoes overridden. The North Carolina legislature has already overridden a handful of bills at the end of July that Stein had nixed. Let’s hope they have at least one more left in them.
