Every gun owner goes through a poor period. A period of time when they had a beer budget and beer tastes. It takes a while to learn about the benefits of investment in quality gear and you only learn that through incurring the costs of being cheap. I’m saying all of this to bring up that the new EOTECH 3-9×32 SFP reminds me of the old NC Star Bug Buster scopes.

The new Vudu is no Bug Buster, and I’m not saying they’re anywhere near the same quality. They just share a very specific look. The new EOTECH scope caught a lot of us off guard…they’ve made a ton of magnified optics, but they haven’t been overly concerned with turning out a more sporting-like scope.
The EOTECH Vudu 3-9×32 SFP
The classic 3-9X magnification range has long been a favorite of hunters. It’s versatile and useful in a ton of different environments at ranges most hunters shoot. It just works, and people like it. EOTECH making a 3-9X isn’t all that crazy, but making their new scope so insanely small and compact is very impressive.

The total length is 6.8 inches. This little optic is roughly the same length as the 1-4X LPVO, but it’s wider with its 32mm objective lens. The optic weighs 16 ounces.
This isn’t a one-trick pony. It also features an integrated base that’s compatible with mini-ACOG mounts. Integrated mounts are both convenient and super strong.
Inside, the reticle is simple and well suited for any task a second focal plane optic excels in…such as hunting. It’s a cross-hair with hash marks and 10 illumination settings. The clarity seemed great from what I could see inside the SHOT Show convention hall.
I don’t know if EOTECH is aiming to get more into the sporting market or if the 3-9X worked best in this micro-sized platform. I can’t help but think of more modern magnification ranges for tactical use. If this is the introduction of an entire new line of mini Vudu optics, I’m excited to see what’s next.
