SHOT Show 2025: Kimber 2K11

If you like 1911s–or even if you don’t, let’s be real–you probably have a thing for double-stacks. With a double-stack 1911 you get far greater capacity and, for me, a better feel in your hands. There’s just something about a beautiful double-stack, and Kimber figured that out with the new Kimber 2K11.

First, it has to be said that these are good looking guns. Kimber didn’t just whip out an idea for a double-stack, throw some walnut grips on it, and call it a day. The Kimber 2K11 is available with either a black frame and Coyote PVD slide and highlights or all black with a Coyote PVD barrel and trigger. Currently offered calibers are the expected 45 ACP and also 9mm, the latter of which would be my personal preference.

The 2K11 is a Government-sized 1911 regardless of color or caliber. That means it has a 5.0-inch barrel and a full-size frame, making it more challenging for concealed carry, but not impossible. A good cover garment hides a lot if you can’t work it in an IWB holster. The 2K11 in 45 ACP has an overall length of 8.56-inches, height of 5.74-inches, and width of 1.4-inches. It weighs 40.1 ounces empty and has a 13 +1 capacity. If you switch to 9mm the dimensions are largely the same but weight changes to 40.9 ounces empty and capacity jumps to 17+1. Guns have stainless steel frames and slides with aluminum grip modules.

It’s the serrations on the slide of the 2K11 that really catch your eye. Kimber simply refers to them as custom serrations, and they certainly are. The slide is also optics ready and ships with a Trijicon RMR footprint compatible plate. Also part of the gun family is the Kimber 2K11 Target which is available either optics cut or with an optic already mounted to the gun.

A patent-pending toolless guide rod is one noteworthy feature–we’ve all struggled with a 1911 guide rod at some point–and the barrel is fluted, ramped, and polished. The flat-face GT trigger is skeletonized and ships with a pull weight between 3- and 4-pounds. And although these are optics-ready guns, they do come with a fiber optic front sight and blacked out rear sight. From the accessory rail to the extended beavertail, Kimber did a nice job designing these pistols.

MSRP varies by caliber and model but starts at $1995.
