In Decatur, Illinois a young mother of two was shot twice in an exchange of gunfire with a trio of home invaders. She wounded one of the baddies and sent them fleeing for their lives from her home. What makes this case extraordinary was the fact she carried her five-month-old baby on her hip as she successfully navigated a gunfight against three armed intruders as they were shooting at her.
The intruders’ gunfire wounded her in the arm and on the hip where she held the infant, as she held the baby.
What an extraordinary case of an Armed American using their defensive pistol to repel violent home invaders.
Police picked up one of the trio as he sought treatment for a gunshot wound.

Deonte Stone fessed up pretty quickly and gave up his comrade “Sophie”, who police tracked down as Colton Clark.

They also scooped up a 16-year-old in Peoria County. All are now guests of their respective county jails, or in the case of the 16-year-old, juvy jail.
Charges for the trio include home invasion, attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm.
WAND has the most details . . .
Alexia Templar was woken up to the sound of shattering glass and footsteps inside her home on the city’s east side near Hill Park around 4 a.m. Monday. She was home alone with her two young children when she saw two people standing inside.
She gathered her children and told the intruders to leave or she would shoot them. According to Templar, they started immediately shooting at her. She shot back, but was hit once in the arm and once in the hip. According to a sworn statement from the Decatur Police Department, this was the same hip she was using to hold her infant daughter.
After the intruders left, her boyfriend arrived and she was taken to the hospital. Neither bullet did serious damage, Templar said.
A Play Station 5 Pro was stolen during the invasion.
Later that morning, officers were dispatched to a home for a report of a man having been shot. The man, 24-year-old Deonte A. Stone, was later interviewed at the hospital by a detective.
According to the sworn statement from DPD, Stone told the detective that he was contacted by a 16-year-old boy he knew who had a plan to commit a burglary and split the proceeds. Another person Stone knew was also involved in the burglary plan, Sophie, later identified as 25-year-old Colton L. Clark.
In the statement, Stone said the three went to Templar’s home with guns and forced their way through a basement window. Stone said they heard a woman scream that she was armed and that they should get out. He said that he turned away from the bedroom and that is when he was shot in the back. Stone said the teenager is the only person who shot at Templar, and that neither he nor Clark fired their guns.
Sure, buddy. Only the teenager fired. That’s your story?
My day gig involves serving as the Executive Director of Guns Save Life, the aggressive grassroots gun rights group in Illinois. We hold one of our monthly meetings in the Decatur area. We’ve reached out to Macon County officials to see if the young mother has a replacement handgun for the one she used to defend her home. We have no doubt that police have seized it as evidence.
If this story is as it appears, I anticipate Guns Save Life will be presenting this young lady with a suitable replacement handgun, along an offer for free firearms training and maybe even a membership in a legal defense “insurance” program as our way of recognizing her extraordinary deeds and to help her continue to protect her precious family from thugs like the three who stormed her house.
It wouldn’t be the first time Guns Save Life has provided a firearm to a young mother who defended her home against home invaders to save herself and her babies.
Here was the original story from KFOR:
An 18 year old Blanchard woman says she was forced to shoot and kill a man who was breaking into her home Saturday afternoon. Sarah Dawn McKinley was home alone with her three month old son at the time.
She says she heard a knock on her door and looked through the peephole to see two men, one of whom she’d met a couple times before.
“I saw that it was the same man. He had been here Thursday night and I had a bad feeling then,” said McKinley.
McKinley says she moved her couch in front of the door, grabbed her son and her shotgun, called 911 and went in a back room.
She says for an agonizing 21 minutes, she listened to the men try to break in.
“He was from door to door trying to bust in, just going from door to door,” said McKinley. “I waited till he got in the door. They said I couldn’t shoot him until he was inside the house. So I waited until he got in the door and then I shot him.”
McKinley says Justin Shane Martin was carrying a 12 inch hunting knife.
Blanchard police believe McKinley acted in self defense when she shot and killed 24 year old Martin.
The story garnered national attention. Guns Save Life took up a collection and sent her a new, customized tactical pump-action shotgun to replace her double-barrel that police took for evidence while they investigated. The local police chief in Blanchard, Oklahoma was aware of what we were doing and took Sarah to the nearby gun shop to do the paperwork to receive the gun. Now that’s service you don’t see in big cities.
Sarah’s since remarried and is doing well with her (now) kids. We wish her well, as we do this woman in Decatur.
A black guy named deonte and a white guy named sophie. You cannot make this shit up.
i knew i had seen deonte’s face before… i was looking up the word mope.
Is Colton his girlyfriend?
Ghettofabulous ring leader, trap prostitute and some random teenager. Drugs. Nothing highlights the stereotypes quite like drugs.
All that’s missing is a story about how the trap jacked off some dude for the hot tip on an easy house to hit.
Deonte… you just knew that guy was gonna cure cancer on the weekends and design a new anti-gravity propulsion system during the week. How will we ever survive?
And Sophie? Is that one of those trans types?
