Life comes at you fast. For those of us who are old enough to remember Charlton Heston defiantly hoisting that rifle in the air, having an NRA promo show up in our feed featuring a blonde in a tight tee and form-fitting scrunch-butt athleisure shorts came as something of a surprise.

But those of us who’ve been paying attention know that the NRA has — frequently behind the scenes — been funding and fighting some of the most important court battles that have gone our way in recent years (check out the dozens of cases they’re currently involved in here).
So, in addition to this new, youth-oriented tack, the NRA (and ILA) powers that be might want to direct some of their dinero toward touting their higher profile wins as well as the other gun rights irons they currently have in the fire. That might help them throw a little more dirt on that old rep they’re trying to get past.
Oh and . . .
Gun-grabbers only care about one thing…optics and politics.
We were told there would be no math here in the gun rights space, but by our count, that’s two.
Anyway, if continuing to grow the gun culture and keeping the NRA in the fight for our 2A rights means navigating the growing cootermogging trend in our socials, we’re okay with that.
The NRA has done more to destroy the 2A right of Americans, than they have ever (or will ever do) done to help. It’s “behind the scenes’ a approach is notorious for negotiating away more rights than it has ever worked to preserve.
It’s out outdated, corrupt organization that cares more about filling executive pockets, far more than defending America’s gun culture…and it has been that way for decades.
Franky, anyone who supports the NRA, should be considered a person of questionable intelligence…or in outright opposition of the 2A.
DEI has left a very bad taste in everyone mouth. Especially us right wingers. But the NRA did get it so correct, I think over 10 years ago. If I can find that old Ad I will post a link.

[note – further research, synopsis and information and comment: The hero defender return fire forced the mass-shooter to retreat, the hero defender provided covering fire for others to flee the area, and while under fire from the mass-shooter the defender hero helped retrieve a wounded victim and got them to safety. Witnesss said they saw the hero defender with his handgun spring into action when the suspect began the shooting spree, saying the defender returned fire before rushing to the side of an In-N-Out employee who was shot to help get her to safety. The hero defender saved many lives by employing DGU. The mass-shooter was later found by police near the restaurant, apparently dead by self-inflicted gun shot according to police news conference but we don’t actually know if that’s the case yet. Its not an uncommon thing for a mass-shooter to take their own life after encountering an ordinary armed citizen putting their life on the line to stop the mass-shooter – police not so much. Mass shooters have shown they don’t fear encountering police as much as they do an ordinary armed citizen and they want the police to shoot/kill them, its a ‘going out in a blaze of glory against the oppressors’ thing for them – they do generally fear being stopped by an ordinary armed citizen though because its not a ‘going out in a blaze of glory against the oppressors’ thing and they know the ordinary armed citizen is more likely to not back down for ‘personal safety’ (like police officers do, for that reason and for procedure at times) and more likely to hit what they aim at than police are so they frequently will retreat and end their own lives rather than continue engagement with an ordinary armed citizen trying to stop them by putting their life on the line without regard for their own safety but rather for the safety and lives of others. Initially it was reported the mass-shooter was shot by police, but that does not appear to be the case.]
Basically; When police respond to a mass-shooter (which includes school shooters as these are just mass-shootings at a school), the police tend to employ procedures for on scene and frequently tend towards trying to capture and arrest even though it rarely works out that way. And they are already behind when they arrive because it takes them some time to get there and are arriving after the incident has started by several minutes or more usually and victims are already down. The already on scene ordinary armed citizen doesn’t have such restrictions, they tend to charge into the danger almost immediately removing in most cases the minimum, very critical time, 2 – 3 minute advantage (the first 30 – 120 seconds the most critical) the mass-shooter relies on to inflict the most initial casualties to cement their heinous acts in history or the defender at least forces the mass-shooter to retreat or sometimes divert their attention from others to the defender thus the defender saves lives by doing this also if they have not put the mass-shooter down already, but success for the defender can also depend on the location also and if its a running gun battle or not, but most defenders force a retreat or suppression and then put the mass-shooter down but frequently the mass-shooter commits suicide. Mass-shooters have made note of this in their writings, about hoping to not encounter ordinary armed citizens but not being worried about the police because by the time police arrive they will have already achieved their heinous goal for ‘infamy’ but that an ordinary armed citizen could stop them from doing that – which is the reason they choose and are attracted to ‘gun free zones’ 96% of the time, no ordinary law abiding armed people, and such ‘gun free zones’ provide a by-law ‘guarantee of defenseless prey’ that helps them have this minimum 2 – 3 minute advantage do this even if police are near by.
