Warren Cooper, campaign coordinator of Take 5: Stop the Violence Campaign, told WHYY News the court decision (upholding the state’s preemption law) represents a setback for the effort to control gun traffic in our city and embodies the urgency of developing alternative strategies for reducing gun violence.
He said that because the legislative and judicial processes are caught in the national tug-of-war between the “right to bear arms” and the “rights of those who don’t want to bear arms or be shot by them” — an “arm wrestling” contest that consistently favors the right to bear arms, Cooper said — there is a need to address gun violence from another angle.
“While it is true that fewer guns on the street would reduce access to their use in violent altercations, the root of the gun-violence problem is not the guns on the street,” Cooper said. “The root of the gun-violence problem rests in the mentality of the people who are in possession of those guns.”
He noted that the current conversations about gun control and violence prevention are primarily focused on the guns themselves. Instead, Cooper believes strategies are needed that focus on the people who hold the guns.

I think we need to have a discussion about Cooper. Its obvious from his broad categorization he means the same old ‘gun control for the law abiding attacks’ but just dressed differently…and its obvious he doesn’t understand the situation.
You can’t solve a problem, in this case a criminal issue, by dividing into two groups of ‘people with 2A rights’ and ‘those opposed to 2A rights’and then say ‘theres the problem’ while completely missing the cause being criminal people…like he is doing here.
All he wants to do is continue the same old ‘them vs us’ and not actually address the criminal issue where the problem lies.
I honestly believe that the majprity of these so called advocates are nothing more than political operatives that want to profit from those who donate to such schemes. The do not want
nor do they care as long as they get their “NOT FOR PROFIT” , NGO, 501(c)(3) status to scam and skim and kick up to their party of choice. Every one of these needs to be investigated for fraud. Never forget how obama used the federal agencies against the Tea Party, conservative, etc.
“Nonprofit” NGOs have gotten rich off human trafficking through the Puppet-Harris border/immigration policies. We end incentives by ending the profit$.
Everything becomes a gift eventually. Sometimes it takes years like with the UN and other times it’s immediate like with BLM but always everything becomes a gift eventually.
Warren Cooper is nothing more than a talking head full of disinformation. He shows concern for those who choose not to bear arms and labels those who do choose to bear arms as criminal misfits. He displays no concern or respect for “we the people”, i.e., unless “we the people” are those like minded and agree with his foolish opinions.
