Gear Review: Osight SE MOS Enclosed Reflex Sight

Osight SE MOS enclosed reflex sight
If you’re a regular reader, you’ve noticed that Osight has unleashed a torrent of new SE model enclosed reflex sights over the last year or so. See some of our write-ups here, here, here and here. They’re making options with different dot colors, dot sizes, mounts, and multi-reticle options.

The latest, however, is probably the most targeted SE sight, the new Osight SE MOS.

MOS as in GLOCK MOS, their modular optic system mount platform pistols.

It only makes sense. Design your popular, affordable enclosed reflex sight to mount directly to the most popular pistols in the world. The SE MOS is made to mount directly to a GLOCK MOS slide without using any of the MOS mounting plates.

Eliminating that plate means you have a more secure mount. It also means the Osight SE MOS mounts lower and co-witnessses nicely with GLOCK’s standard iron sights.

Of course, the the Osight SE MOS is an inherently less flexible design. It’s made for GLOCK MOS pistols and you aren’t going to swap it out to any other guns. If you’re good with that, you’re good to go.

Like Osight’s other SE enclosed emitter sights, the SE MOS runs on a standard CR1632 battery in a side-loading drawer. You won’t have to dismount sight and re-zero it when changing batteries.

How long will the Osight SE MOS run on a fresh battery? That depends. You have three reticle options; a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle or both at the same time. Osight says at brightness level three (there are 10 brightness levels, the first two night vision compatible), the SE MOS will run for 140,000 hours. With both dot and circle, it’s just under 87,000 hours.

Whatever…that’s a very, very long time. Change your battery regularly — every year or two on New Year’s Day (or your birthday, Presidents Day, National Taco Day…whatever, just pick one) and you’ll be just fine.

The view through the Osight SE MOS’s aspherical .55 by .83-inch lens is clear and only slightly tinted. The SE MOS renders a very clear, flare-free (to my eyes) dot/circle/circle-dot. And the low, plate-less mount means your iron sights are still good for something.

Like the other Osight SE’s we dunked it in water and froze it. Like a Timex, it kept on ticking. It should, since Osight says the 7075-T6 aluminum housing is IPX7 rated.

You you want a red dot for your GLOCK MOS pistol(s) — and only your GLOCK MOS pistols — the Osight SE MOS is a very worthy option.
