Texas Native Flew ISIS Flag in Deadly Bourbon Street Terrorist Truck Attack

As we always caution in the immediate aftermath of high profile incidents, initial reports are frequently wrong. That includes statements issued by the consummate law enforcement professionals at the FBI. After initially announcing that the truck attack and shooting that took place on Bourbon street was not an act of terrorism, the Fibbies then did an about face and issued a subsequent statement announcing that the agency is, in fact, investigating the mass casualty event as an act of terrorism.

At about 3:15 a.m. a man drove a pickup truck around a police car blocking the entrance to Bourbon Street at Canal Street and plowed through the crowd. He then reportedly opened fire with either a handgun or a rifle he’s been reported to have been also carrying. Ten people are reported dead with dozens more injured.

According to Fox News . . .

Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, is the man suspected of driving a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing at least 10 people and injuring 35 more, the FBI said in a statement. Jabbar died in a brief shootout with police after crashing the vehicle.

Jabbar was a Texas native living in Houston and reportedly drove a rented pickup to New Orleans to carry out the attack. He was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with police, two of whom were reportedly injured in the shootout.

“An ISIS flag was located in the vehicle and the FBI is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations. Weapons and a potential IED were located in the subject’s vehicle. Other potential IEDs were also located in the French Quarter,” the FBI said.

A Glock handgun and .308 caliber rifle equipped with optics and a sensor were recovered from the crime scene, according to a high-level local source familiar who was not authorized to publicly discus details of the investigation.

That “sensor” in the Fox report was apparently a typo as CBS News is reporting that the rifle was equipped with a suppressor.

Watch this space.

UPDATE: The FBI has announced that IEDs were found in Jabbar’s truck and in other locations in the French Quarter. Two IEDs “were found and have been rendered safe.” FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan also stated that they “do not believe that Jabbar was solely responsible” for the attack and the IEDs that have been found.

The college football playoff game (AKA, the Sugar Bowl) between Georgia and Notre Dame that was supposed to take place a few blocks west at the Superdome this evening has been postponed 24 hours while authorities continue to search the area for additional threats.

  1. It’s like the FBI is so used to lying, it’s reflexive for them. They didn’t have to immediately comment on terrorism. Lying or incompetence? Both? How do they expect us to have confidence in them?

Remember when people asked why radical Muslims attacked us on 9-11? It’s been awhile, but the answer was something like, “they hate our democracy and freedom.” That didn’t make sense then. It makes even less sense now. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the happenings in Syria, right?

  2. Sheriff Judd said we shot the scumbag 68 times. Some nitwit reporter asked why deputies shot some dirtbag 68 times. Sheriff Judd said because we ran out of bullets. Nuff said. I for one appreciate the picture of the DRT scumbag.

  3. Other news: someone used a Tesla vehicle, which was right in front of the front door of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, to create a rapidly expanding fireball, i.e. an expl_____tion.

(Erring on the side of caution, I figured it was wise to NOT put the name of our soon-to-be President and and that word which starts with “expl” in the same written Internet posting.)

      1. Or the deep state under the guise of ISIS, or the deep state giving certain people a series of nudges in a particular direction.

    1. The terrorist attacker, Shamsud Din Jabbar, was born and raised in Texas. He also served in the U.S. Army.

The truck was a rental truck, so it wouldn’t be unusual for a rental vehicle to change hands or in that area of the country to go from Houston to Mexico and back. The border crossing at Eagle Pass (post above) is likely unrelated to the attack, but time will tell.

The terrorist attacker, Shamsud Din Jabbar, had a Glock and a .308 rifle. The rifle had been reported stolen in New Jersey.

        “…
More details about Jabbar are also emerging, some of which are disturbing.

In a series of videos, the suspect in the deadly New Year’s attack in New Orleans discussed planning to kill his family and having dreams that helped inspire him to join ISIS, according to multiple officials briefed on the investigation.

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the 42-year-old man who police suspect drove a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens more, made the chilling recordings while driving from his home in Texas to Louisiana, authorities believe.
        …”

        1. FBI now says they do not think Jabbar was acting alone. The IED’s were made at an AirBnB rental.

The truck was owned by an individual and was self-rented-out by him via an app named TURO that lets people rent out their vehicles. The owner IS NOT THE TERRORIST (and is not linked to this terrorist attack, he is helping law enforcement with information.)

          1. Now, the ‘suspected’ terrorist attack, second attack on New Years day….

hours after the New Orleans attack…. a Tesla Cybertruck exploded right in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is now investigating that explosion as a possible act of terror.

(nypost link has surveillance video showing the Tesla Cybertruck exploding).

The Tesla Cybertruck was also rented through the Turo app, the same one used to rent the pickup truck used in the New Orleans attack.

(Lets apply some anti-gun logic here: ‘Obviously’, the Turo app and motor vehicles are the cause of this violence. App Violence and Vehicle Violence, so ban apps and vehicles. /s)

          2. Apparently the Tesla Cybertruck was a bad choice for the Trump International Hotel attacker.

“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards.

Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.”

          3. New report out says the man responsible for the Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel served at the same military base as the New Orleans terrorist.

Maybe coincidence … but both renting their EV vehicles from private individuals via the Turo app, were stationed on the same military base, perform terrorist attacks on the same day within hours of each other…

          4. and then yet a third ‘terroristic’ like attack in New York …

Mass Shooting Reported at Entertainment Venue in Queens, New York. (Queens, NY at Amazura Night Club – not known if linked to terrorist attacks in New Orleans French Quarter and Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, currently not known if being investigated as a terrorist attack but such things are ‘terroristic’ like anyway. Might turn out to be yet another garden variety criminal gang related thing.)
