Thanks in part to immigration enforcement pulling some of the worst of the worst violent illegals from the streets of Chicago, America’s Murder City has become relatively tranquil in recent weeks. Gang violence had even simmered down. But hoo boy, did that change with the start of July and the unofficial start of the Windy City’s summer ballistic festival. In just 40 hours, fifty-one (51!) people suffered gunshot wounds and nine of them died.
One big source of a lot of the mayhem involved Artis Lounge, a River North nightclub frequented by gang members. On Wednesday night, at a “release party” for an aspiring rap artist named Mello Buckzz, things went sideways. A carload of thugs who hadn’t RSVP’d rolled up and opened fire on a crowd as they exited the bar. When the gunsmoke finally drifted away, eighteen people were wounded and four never woke up.
Some say the incident might hold the title as the most casualties in a spree shooting in the city’s history.
But wait! There’s more! That was the second mass casualty gang violence incident at the Artis Lounge in three years. Cops say this latest burst of senseless violence “might” have been gang related. That bit of investigatory genius is reminiscent of when Islamic terrorists scream “Allahu snackbar” as they commit murder innocents on American soil and the Biden-era FBI says it “might” have been an Islamic terror attack.
CWB Chicago has the dirty deets:
A carload of drive-by gunmen opened fire on a crowd leaving a rap performer’s release party at a River North nightclub on Wednesday night, leaving 18 people shot, 4 fatally, officials said. It marks the second mass shooting at the same location since 2022.
The shooting occurred at 11:02 p.m. as a crowd exited Artis Lounge at 311 West Chicago Avenue, following a release party for local rap artist Mello Buckzz. An internal CPD bulletin obtained by CWBChicago said the motive was “possibly gang related.” Investigators found more than 20 shell casings of three different calibers—.223, .40, & 9mm— at the scene, the bulletin said.
It didn’t stop there. Thursday saw roughly 16 shot and three or four homicides. According to heyjackass.com, July has seen 77 shot and 14 killed in Chicago so far in July.
The numbers for Independence Day alone included five homicides, including a 4-year-old killed by his mother, along with a seven-victim gangland shooting in Chicago’s New City neighborhood. Thank heavens for the strict gun control in the Land of Lincoln.
Oh wait. Chicago’s long history of gun control has done exactly nothing to prevent any of this mayhem. Not only that, but no suspects have been identified in the Artis Lounge shooting.
Perhaps raining the age of gun ownership to 41 would help!
raising the age.
Comment won’t post. The page just refreshes.
I prefer Alley Oop Snack Bar, named after the old comic strip character.
I prefer that fine establishment for Hawaiian treats, Oahu Snackbar.
Most of the shootings in Chicago are done by black youths, not be violent illegal immigrants. Of course it’s a good thing to round up the violent illegals. But what do you do about the black youths who are committing most of the violent crimes in the city?
There are laws to keep them behind bars but prosecutors and judges keep letting them go. Actually enforcing the laws that are already on the books would go a long way.
shortshanks, tiny dancer, triple threat and conehead. i’d elaborate but it might not post.
