Appearing on Morning Joe show last week, Johnson pointedly refused to give a direct answer to persistent questions on whether more police would reduce crime, and instead doubled down on poverty and more gun control.
When The Trace’s Mike Spies says he wants bans on all guns – including handguns – believe him. That’s what he wants. That’s the narrative he is driving.

Several universities, in a matter of days, pushed out active shooter and shelter-in-place alerts to students and faculty. The unspeakable events in Minneapolis underscore the depraved nature of those who call a hoax emergency.
I don’t blame anyone for an evil person’s actions except the perp alone. But I demand they apply the same logic to gun owners and stop trying to strip all law-abiding people of their rights because of the actions of criminals like this. You can’t have it both ways.
ATF isn’t an agency that’s serving the American people. It’s a political weapon used to enforce unconstitutional gun control schemes.
O’Rourke might not regret his call to confiscate and ban Americans’ MSRs. At the same time, tens of millions of law-abiding MSR owners don’t regret dismissing O’Rourke or his insane ideas.
When pseudo-liberals browbeat marginalized groups for wanting to arm themselves to defend against violence, they are, in effect, signaling that they are expendable. As Lord Farquaad would have said, that’s a sacrifice they’re more than willing to make.
The bottom line is this: ATF’s 2,600 Special Agents deserve to be judged exactly as they judge America’s gun owners: They’re all guilty and they all need to go.
Gun control politicians seem to be stuck in a perpetual loop of recognizing that crime is a problem while ignoring the criminals who commit those crimes, instead call for more gun control in the name of “doing something.”
