SILENCER 101: What’s a ‘Mount?’ [VIDEO]

In the previous installment of SILENCER 101 we discussed what “HUB” means in the world of suppressors. Today it’s the word “mount.” What is a mount, where does the mount go, what does it do, how’s it different from a muzzle device? Watch the video above to find out!

TL:DR edition:

A silencer mount installs in, or is permanently installed in/integral to the base of the silencer. It’s the interface between silencer and firearm.

Whether the silencer is going to attach to the barrel via screwing directly onto threads that are cut onto the muzzle of the barrel, via a muzzle device such as a muzzle brake or flash hider, via a pistol booster system, or otherwise, the appropriate mount to interface with that style of firearm-side silencer attachment mechanism will be installed into the base of the silencer and will stay with the silencer, not with the firearm.
