Seems to be a mismatch in data here. If those guns were used defensively, wouldn’t that mean the defenders were attacked? At least in the sense of a “violent victimization”?
Otherwise, you’re telling me there was no good reason for the person to pull a gun. Which would then make it brandishing, and a crime.
What you mean to say is *successful* “violent victimizations.” There were (apparently) about 2 million total, out of which, 5/6 were stopped by the presence or use of a gun.
