Deer season is upon us. In many states, hunters have already taken their positions in tree stands or blinds, bow in hand, hoping for a shot at one of fall’s trophies. Others skip archery season altogether and wait for the many whitetail gun seasons. During this time, hunters are checking their gear or purchasing new equipment. In that spirit, it’s great to see that Vortex has introduced two new tools in its Triumph line designed for deer hunters seeking both quality and value.

Ultra Affordability

Whether you’re a western big-game hunter or a midwestern deer hunter, Vortex has a sighting solution for you. The Triumph line is made for those on a budget with the features you need and nothing you don’t. For Fall 2025, Vortex released a riflescope and laser rangefinder in that line.

Triumph HD 3-9×40 Riflescope

This new optic from Vortex combines impressive glass, solid construction, and included 1-inch Hunter Rings to give the deer hunter everything they need to mount the optic and get going. The inclusion of rings – especially at this price point — is big as that’s often an afterthought for many hunters. Features include the following:

  • HD Optical System: Optimized with select glass elements to deliver exceptional resolution, cut chromatic aberration, and provide outstanding color fidelity, edge-to-edge sharpness, and light transmission.
  • Fully Multi-Coated Lenses: Anti-reflective coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces, enhancing light transmission for improved clarity and low-light performance.
  • ‘Dead-Hold’ BDC (MOA) Reticle: A Simple and easy-to-use BDC-style reticle that will work with most calibers.
  • Rings: Low height 1-inch Hunter Rings

The MSRP for this is $149.99, but the optic is easily found at retail for $99.99.

Triumph HD 850 Laser Rangefinder

Simple, easy to use and accurate are the traits many deer hunters look for in a rangefinder. The Triumph HD 850 has settings for both rifle and bowhunters, making it suitable for the whole season.

Features include the following:

  • HD Optical System for maximum light transmission, enhanced resolution, and glare reduction.
  • 850-yard Max Reflective Range: Plenty of power for bowhunters and rifle hunters alike to range game and gather info for a stalk.
  • What’s in the Box: Includes a soft carry case, wrist lanyard, lens cloth, and CR2 battery.

Just like the Triumph HD 3-9×40 riflescope, the 850 has an MSRP $149.99 and retails for $99.99. Both products are protected by Vortex’s VIP Warranty.

Zooming Out

I’ll be mounting the Triumph on a 450 Bushmaster AR from Bear Creek Arsenal. That will be a good test of how well this budget optic (and, well, the rifle) holds up. Here in Ohio, that’s an excellent choice for deer in the woods, where most shots are taken well within 200 yards. The new Triumph line from Vortex offers incredible value at very affordable prices for hunters on a budget.
