Gideon Optics just dropped three new products, the Storm DPP red dot, the Judge II micro red dot, and the Judge XL reflex sight. Gideon is fairly local to me and I’ve just started working with some of their sights, and have been impressed so far. They provide good features at competitive prices. They also offer a great warranty so it’s really kind of a no risk proposition to check them out. That’s important in today’s crowded optics field.
Let’s see what these three new ones have to offer.

Storm DPP Red Dot
The DPP in Storm DPP stands for its DeltaPoint Pro footprint. So if you have a DPP compatible slide, like SIG’s P320, the Storm will drop right on with no adapter plates needed. MSRP is $229.99. Specs below . . .
- It features a 6 MOA dot reticle in red or green, which balances the speed of target acquisition with more precise accuracy.
- Windage and elevation are adjustable up to 45 MOA each at one MOA per click for a total adjustment range of 90 MOA.
- Brightness levels are adjustable for a range of daylight and two night vision-compatible settings.
- Built rugged with a 7075 T-6 aircraft aluminum housing, IPX7 waterproofing, and shock resistance to 1000 Gs.
- Power saving Shake-to-Awake mode extends the life of your CR-1632 battery to tens of thousands of hours by entering sleep mode after 255 seconds without movement. The reticle automatically returns with a simple wrist gesture.
- The top-load battery tray doesn’t require removing or re-zeroing for battery changes.
- Unlimited eye-relief and parallax-free to 33 yds.
- Measures 47.7mm X 31.2mm X 30.8mm with a 24mm X 21.5mm lens and weighs just 1.37 oz.
- Backed by a lifetime replacement guarantee that covers almost everything except intentional damage.
Judge II Micro Red Dot
The Judge II Micro Red Dot uses the RMSc or Holosun “K” footprint, and will be a good fir for micro compact pistols. It also comes with a Picatinny mount if you want to mount it on an AR, a PCC or something similar. It has a side mounted battery for easy changes, which is a must-have feature on sights for me any more. MSRP on the Judge II is $209.99 and features are below . . .
- Aircraft-grade aluminum housing with an extended lens shroud for better protection.
- Aim intuitively using a bright 3 MOA dot in an optic that’s parallax-free to 33 yds.
- Tens of thousands of service hours from a single CR-1632 in a side-load battery compartment–no optic removal is required for changing.
- Shake-to-awake battery-saving technology enters sleep mode after 225 seconds without movement and switches back on in milliseconds.
- Windage and elevation are adjustable at 1 MOA-per-click up to 35 MOA each for a total adjustment range of 70 MOA.
- Adjustable red or green LED emitter lets you match your reticle’s brightness to the ambient lighting conditions.
- Waterproof and shockproof design for dynamic tactical situations.
- Measures 48.8mm X 27.4mm X 28mm and weighs just 1.2 Oz.
- Multi-coated window measures a pleasant 20mm x 18mm.
- Installs directly to RMSc-compatible slides with a co-witness-friendly 8.5mm deck height or using the included 1913 Picatinny rail mount.
- Backed by a lifetime guarantee against defects in workmanship or parts. If your micro red dot fails for any reason short of intentional damage, Gideon will replace it.
Judge XL Reflex Sight
The last of the trio of new optics being released is the Judge XL. The XL has a larger viewing window allowing a broader field of view for quicker target acquisition. Despite the bigger window it uses the RMSc mounting footprint so you can still run it on micro compacts. It comes with a Picatinny mount as well. MSRP is just $10 more than the Judge II at $219.00. I’m kind of intrigued by this one and will probably grab one in the future to check out. Specs below . . .
- Features the same compact RMSc footprint as the original Judge, but the lens measures a massive 28mm X 22.5 mm for a larger sight picture to work with.
- Perfect for the Stealth Arms Platypus, Tisas DS 1911, Staccato, Canik Elite SC, Glock 43X, and Sig p365XL.
- The 6 MOA dot reticle has eight daytime brightness settings and two night-vision-compatible settings for tactical operation.
- Protected by a 7075-T6 aluminum housing and engineered to be IPX-7 waterproof and 1200Gs shockproof for real-world reliability.
- Powered by a single side-loaded CR-1632 Lithium-Ion battery that gives you tens of thousands of hours of service life.
- Shake-to-Awake power-saving mode turns off your emitter after 225 seconds without movement but restores it to full brightness at the slightest motion.
- Adjustable for 45 MOA of windage and elevation each–90 MOA total adjustment range.
- Parallax-free to 33 yards.
- Overall Dimensions are 50.6mm X 32.4mm X 32.7mm (LxWxH), with a deck height of 8.5mm and weighing 1.16 oz.
- Comes with an optional 1913 Picatinny mount for rail mounting.
- Guaranteed for life against defects in materials or workmanship. If your sight fails for just about anything short of intentional damage, Gideon will replace it.
