Happy 2026: NFA $200 Tax Stamps On Most Popular NFA Items Relegated to the Ash Heap of History

Thanks to the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, in the US House, the repeal of the $200 tax on suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns and “any other weapons” officially took effect on January 1. Every single Democrat opposed this measure, along with two RINO Republicans in the House, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Tom Massie of Kentucky.

We covered this back when Congress was haggling over it all. And how the market for cans may very well change.  And we wrote about a bunch of other angles regarding silencers, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs.

We covered how Democrats demagogued the issue, with one of their brain trust asking if the “assassin lobby” supported the repeal of the tax and other rabidly anti-gun, simple-minded Democrats demanding that instead of repealing the tax that we triple it.  Meanwhile, some on our side bitched that eliminating a 91-year excise tax on these items somehow isn’t really a win and that we should castigate our allies in Congress for failing to remove registration entirely. With friends like those, who needs Everytown?

Now the repeal has finally taken effect and we’ll get to see first-hand how the tax stamp elimination changes the market.

Unsurprisingly, the NRA and the American Suppressor Association both took another victory lap as the calendar flipped to 2026, justifiably celebrating the milestone.

What’s the first zero dollar NFA item you’re planning to buy?

  1. A Question, I Haz

I take this as a step closer toward the goal line, but hardly a winning touchdown. The main issue here – as any PTOG knows well – is the registration involved. So we’re supposed to be happy that we still get to request permission from our overlords and enjoy being in their databases and succumbing to the travel restrictions because now the process is *free of charge**?

No, Mr. Bojangles, I am not yet ready to celebrate. Give me a call when the NFA is entirely repealed. And open up the bottle of bubbly when CA actually allows us non-LE plebes to own them, regardless of what the Fed Guv eventually says.

    1. And here comes some of the FO part for electing a commie to office: Zohran Mamdani’s new NYC tenant advocate called to ‘seize private property,’ blasted home ownership as ‘white supremacy’. {New York city dwellers are no longer citizens, they are subjects.]

    2. What’s funny is all these young people who support him and his nonsense are vehemently opposed to the concept of roommates.

Yet they glamorize all of us living in communal muds hits is tribal Somalian fashion.

  4. Sometimes it just comes out of no where: DoorDash driver charged after punching 75-year-old veteran who told him to slow down.

“A 75-year-old military veteran is in a coma after allegedly being punched in the head by a DoorDash driver outside his Michigan home after he told the driver to ‘slow down.’

Lloyd Poole has been hospitalized since the December 28 incident, which occurred outside his residence. Security camera footage from a nearby home captured the confrontation, showing 40-year-old DoorDash driver Ryan Turner getting out of his vehicle and striking Poole.

‘The guy sped past, and my dad called out to him that he needed to slow down. The guy delivered food elsewhere – he passed my dad’s house – and then on his way back, my dad yelled out to him again to stop speeding,’ she said.

According to Shaw, Turner stopped his vehicle when Poole stepped off the porch to get the license plate number, and the two exchanged words.

‘Then out of nowhere, the guy punches my father on the side of the head. He doesn’t even try to defend himself. I don’t think he saw it coming. He fell, and the guy got back in his car and drove away. He just left him lying in the road.’

WILX 10 reported that Turner later confessed to Wixom police that he struck Poole and left the scene. [The door dash driver] Turner claimed the attack was in self-defense, saying he felt threatened by the elderly man. [hmmm…there was no self-defense here.]

Turner has been charged with aggravated assault and faces up to one year in prison. He is currently out on bond.

Records show he has prior assault and battery charges from 2022 that were reduced to a lesser offense. He also has multiple driving violations, calling into question why he was a delivery driver to begin with.

‘He shouldn’t be driving. He had a suspended license and a long history of driving without a license,’ said Shaw.
