FALCO & GBGuns | New A914 Holster featuring the "Griffin Wing"

FALCO Holsters has partnered with SNW contributor Graham Baates, the Army veteran and firearms journalist behind GBGuns, to launch a new inside-the-waistband holster called the A914. The holster is built as a hybrid design, combining U.S.-made Kydex with premium Italian leather. It’s intended primarily for hip carry in the 3 to 5 o’clock position and is marketed as a solution for gun owners looking for retention, concealment, and all-day comfort.

According to FALCO, the holster’s signature feature is something the company calls the “Griffin Wing,” a leather extension along the leading edge of the holster. Over time and with use, the wing is designed to conform to the wearer’s body while still flexing with movement.

The company says the wing also helps spread the weight of the firearm across a wider section of the belt, addressing a common complaint among people who carry larger handguns inside the waistband.

Other features include a retention screw near the trigger guard for adjusting retention strength, a full sweat guard to protect both the firearm and the wearer, an FBI forward cant, and an open-bottom design that the company says helps the holster stay clear of debris while accommodating threaded barrels.

The A914 attaches to the belt using two polymer clips, one mounted to the Kydex shell and one to the leather Griffin wing, available in 1.5, 1.75, and 2-inch belt width options. FALCO says the clips are self-adjusting and will settle into the correct cant once worn.

The holster’s tuckable clip design allows users to tuck a shirt over it, and FALCO says it fits a wide range of pistols and revolvers, including models equipped with red dot sights. MSRP is $159.95.

Baates, who’s an active writer in the firearms industry, has logged multiple military deployments, more than 60 days of professional firearms training, and over a decade of daily concealed carry, said the project let him apply years of testing experience directly to a design.

“The development process gave me the opportunity to take what I’ve learned from years of carrying, training, and testing gear and apply it to a holster designed to solve the everyday carry challenges I’ve experienced. The A914 was refined over several months of daily use in both humid and dry conditions while carrying a full-size Grand Power K100 MK23.”

Robert Kovac, CEO of FALCO Holsters, said the collaboration reflected the company’s broader approach to product development.

“At FALCO, we believe the best ideas & designs come from honest feedback and people who truly use the product. Working with Graham allowed us to challenge the design, refine the details, and create a holster that brings together comfort, function, and long-term durability for everyday carry.”

A ‘gimmicky’ misuse of perfectly good leather.
