There are few things more comforting or reassuring than slipping a snubby in your pocket as you head out the door. They’re small, easily concealed, and pack five rounds of ‘Oh no you don’t‘ that can handle most self-defense situations. Taurus has announced a new stubby and brought back another one to fill exactly that need.
Both have shrouded, internal hammer designs and tote five rounds of big boy ammo. That ensures a snag-free draw when you need it most.
The Model 850, chambered in .38 Special, comes in both two-inch and 3-inch versions and both are available in either black or stainless finishes. The black guns in either barrel length have an MSRP of $424.99 and the stainless versions will run you $15 more.
For those who want a little more firepower in their pocket, Taurus has brought back the Model 650 revolver chambered in .357.
Like the 850, the 650 comes in both two-inch and three-inch models and in either black or stainless finishes. The black models have an MSRP of $454.99 and again, the stainless guns are $15 more. All of these small-frame wheelguns work with popular speed loaders and fit about a bajillion holsters already on the market made for J-frames. They’ll also leave a considerably smaller hole in your wallet than most of their competitors.

Damn straight, I *love* my LCR in .357… 😉
