Every American who pays attention to the news and politics is aware of what’s going on. We have a madman in office who does crazy things on the daily. We are seeing weekly updates on the unraveling of our country. Riots in LA, military takeover of Washington DC, departments of the government eradicated by a modern day robber-baron. I, frankly, am tired of being under a government that represents the rich over anyone else. I fear that a violent civil conflict, even if it is isolated or small, is now certain to happen. I hope it doesn’t happen and our internal strife will be solved through protest and elections, but I fear that it is almost inevitable.
Far-right extremists and their Republican cronies have more firearms and more pro-2A supporters than Liberal America. It is time we, as Liberal Americans, realize this and work to change it. Advocate for people who are able and willing to own a gun to get one. Tell them to train with it. Knowing how to effectively use a firearm will always trump having the biggest and baddest weapon around. Go to your local gun range and shoot.
But it can’t stop at just firearms ownership. We must strive to have people learn how to fight and defend ourselves if the need arises. This is more than just knowing how to shoot. Knowing basic combat first aid, basic bushcraft, basic opsec procedures, basic tactics, and how to supply a fighting force are instrumental in any challenge that may arise. There are a plethora of manuals around for this, the US Military has publicly released many of them and they are available for purchase on Amazon or you can pirate them for free on the internet. Physical fitness and having a healthy body, whatever size or shape you are, is never a bad thing to have and will only benefit you in the future.
We, as Liberal Americans, are the minutemen of today. Our ancestors, the American revolutionaries, were the liberals of their time. Yes, they were some horrible realities in the 1700’s. Yes, the American militias that fought the revolutionary war were not great people by today’s standards. But, they were still the liberals of their time fighting a tyrannical monarch for the right of self-determination and for the existence of the first democracy since Ancient Rome. We cannot let their sacrifice go to waste and let some billionaire aristocrat destroy the country that we call home. We need to peacefully protest, advocate, and vote as long as we can. But we cannot back down if a fight is put in front of us.

A strong majority of the military is right leaning and illegal orders to shoot civilians would earn a commander a bullet from their own troops. The federal government has complete authority to enforce the law there if those who were ‘governance’ (not ‘governing’ because the federal government is the actual government in DC because its a federal district) under the charter did not. And that’s what is happening.
