We’ve regularly ridiculed the gun control industry’s repeated warnings of blood and chaos after every permitless carry law passes or a court ruling goes against them. They do it every time. It’s how they keep their donor base engaged and writing checks. But their constant predictions of doom get a lot less funny when you realize that they’re actually upset that crime is now falling following the expansion of carry rights.
They wanted Florida to turn into a bloodbath after constitutional carry become law in the Sunshine State, just like they hoped gun-related crime would skyrocket after the Supreme Court’s Bruen ruling, as they so loudly predicted. That the opposite has happened while gun ownership has expanded is terrible for their narrative (and their bottom line).
This isn’t a new thing for antigun groups. I remember how much they were transparently seething in their public statements after Elisjsha Dicken — an average armed citizen — killed a mass shooter and stopped that crime from becoming much worse. They acted like he “stole” a mass shooting from them, and that’s bad for them because mass shootings are the only time anyone cares about what they have to say.
The real end goal of gun control industry groups, though, is control, not safety. But when we get the safety without the control, it undercuts their entire reason for being…and they simply can’t stand that.
If crime had actually gone up following Bruen, or after Florida adopted constitutional carry, the gun control industry would have been ecstatic. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. They’d also be reminding us of it in every press release and blaming gun rights expansion, even though those who legally carrying a gun almost never commit crimes.
When the opposite occurs and crime falls to record lows, the gun-grabbers simply won’t acknowledge it. Or they gaslight and insist the crime surge they’ve been predicting is coming. Soon. Any day now.
