Brady United Calls Bullsh!t on Marion Hammer’s Claim They Offered Her Millions to Retire

Former NRA president Marion Hammer

Marion Hammer is currently in a legal pissing match with the National Rifle Association…an organization for which she once served as president. The dispute is over the association cancelling a “consulting” contract that paid her hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

While that fight is between Hammer and the folks in Fairfax, an interesting tidbit was included in her complaint and represented as a key factor in an extension of her contract the amount she was paid.

Hammer claimed that Brady United (formerly the National Council to Control Handguns, formerly Handgun Control, Inc., formerly the Brady Campaign, formerly Brady Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, formerly just Brady) had offered her $5 million back in 2018 “if she would retire and cease advancing the interests of the NRA and defending the Second Amendment.” Hammer then used that offer as leverage to get a better deal out of the NRA.

That’s quite a claim. Especially so because Brady (or whatever the hell it’s calling itself these days) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization and using tax-free dollars in such a manner might raise some eyebrows now that the IRS is under new management.

Brady, however, has issued a brief statement denying that any such offer was ever made.

Brady has no interest in being involved in Marion Hammer’s dispute with the National Rifle Association (NRA), two parties that have spent decades pursuing policies and backing politicians that prioritize guns over American lives. The disputes over Marion Hammer’s agreements with the NRA and related entities is a matter for the courts. But let us be clear: Brady did NOT make any such offer, nor would it ever consider offering any proffer, to Marion Hammer, a woman whose legacy will be thousands and thousands of grieving families who lost their loved ones to gun violence propagated by the reckless policies Marion championed throughout her career.

Okay then. The claim is basically a matter of she said/they said now. We report, you decide.

  1. After a falling-out with an employee, he told me that he never even stole from me, as if that was some heroic action on his part. (He knew where I kept some cash.)

Not saying Hammer is an angel, but given that Brady United has a proven track record of lying (even when they were named something else in the past) I’m inclined to think a bribe is something Brady would do.

  3. As my father-in-law ( a wise, but grumpy, man) used to say: “Trust no one…not even your own rear end”.

  4. No one of consequence

Seems to me, Ms Hammer producing a copy of the letter would settle it pretty quickly. I’d expect she’ll need to if it’s to be anything other than hearsay in support of her lawsuit.

    So … I guess we’ll see.

Marion Hammer is out for herself. Not sure why Wayne started paying her. Maybe she has some unique talents not known to other women. It sure ain’t for her fit, feminine and submissive attributes.
