Biden Signals His Intent to Give the Gun Control Industry a Parting Gift on His Way Out the Door

By any measure, the Biden-Harris administration has been the most hostile to Second Amendment rights in American history. They’ve weaponized the executive branch — in the form of the DOJ and ATF — in service to making life hell for lawful gun owners, retailers, and manufacturers. Examples include the adoption of a pistol brace ban (now overturned), the frame or receiver rule (which also took a big hit) that redefines what constitutes a gun and was meant to outlaw “ghost guns,” and the agency’s zero tolerance enforcement regime that’s shut down hundreds of retailers.

Congress gave Biden the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act thanks to useful GOP idiots like John Cornyn. The administration then used the law to institute a de facto 10-day waiting period for adults under 21 buying firearms and pull hunting safety program funding from schools (which they were later forced to restore).

On top of those moves, the Bidenbots gave the gun control industry something they’ve long wanted with the establishment of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. That’s an executive branch cabal of anti-gunners that coordinate government action and PR with nation’s gun control operations.

On Sunday morning, the OGVP released a report touting the Ministry of Gun Control’s alleged accomplishments. As Reuters reports . . .

Enhanced background checks have blocked thousands of gun sales to people under the age of 21 and those convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence crimes in the past year, the White House said on Sunday, a year after President Joe Biden set up a new office to accelerate work on preventing gun violence.
Homicides have dropped 17% in the period, building on the largest-ever drop in homicides in 2023, the White House said. It said data from the Gun Violence Archive showed that mass shootings were also down 20% to date in 2024 compared to a year earlier and would reach their lowest level this year since 2019.
Never mind the dubious nature of the data on which the OGVP bases the statistics it’s trumpeting. The real news here is OGVP Policy Director Stephanie Feldman dropping news of their intention to give the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex a parting gift before Biden finally wheeled out of the White House in January.
[Feldman] told Reuters that Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee in the Nov. 5 presidential election, would announce additional executive action soon.
Feldman declined to provide any details, but said the action involved some “wholly new ideas” and would take hard work to complete before Biden leaves office in January.
The $64,000 question is, of course, what exactly the White House anti-gun cabal is brewing in their cauldron of Second Amendment violations. Could they be dumb enough to try to enact an “assault weapons” ban by executive order? Unilaterally declare that that all AR-15s and AK47s are now regulated under the National Firearms Act? Why not? What do they have to lose?
Many factors will weigh on whether Biden does anything or now extreme the administration’s move(s) may be, not least of which is the outcome in November. If Trump is reelected, he could immediately rescind any executive order Biden signs (or someone signs for him). Control of Congress matters, too, in terms of countering any potential executive orders with legislation. And gun rights orgs are not doubt also standing by, ready to file lawsuits within hours of Biden doing whatever his cabal is planning.
In the mean time, buckle up. The next four months are likely to be pretty bumpy.

Gun control in general is a wounded animal, thanks to Trump’s SCotUS picks that gave us a favorable Supreme Court. And a wounded animal is a dangerous animal.

If they the lose election, I bet they will ‘Go For Broke’, and we better hope we can find a federal judge to injunction their bullshit…

  2. Could they be dumb enough to try to enact an “assault weapons” ban by executive order?

That would be really dumb for various reasons but one is that such an order would automatically be unconstitutional because no where in the constitution or SCOTUS precedent or in law does the president have the authority or power to ban anything property wise (including firearms) for individuals by executive order. And besides, the American public nor industry is obligated to follow such an executive order.

An executive order is a directive from the President that has much of the same power as a federal law, for those in federal service IN the executive branch and in some cases outside the executive branch. But not all executive orders are lawful or constitutional. There are very limited circumstances where an executive order can be used to affect the public or industry, and none of them allow the president to issue an executive order banning personal property from being owned or bought or sold or held or used. It would take Biden actually overthrowing the country with a military junta and suspending the constitution to enforce such an executive order to ban personal property.

So I tend to think its not a ban by executive order, its tantamount to declaring war.
