SHOT 2026: Coast’s New BRKR PTX Pistol Lights

Another new pistol light. Yadda, yadda, yadda, right? Well, not quite.

Coast is mostly known for their affordable flashlights and knives. Lately they’ve begun to dip a toe into the weapon light market and their latest products are a series of three pistol lights under the BRKR PTX name.

What make them different from other very popular brands that are already out there? Two things.

First, two of the three PTX models give you two options in your beam type. You can set them for either a tight beam with more throw (candela) or a wider beam that fills a room better. You can switch between them by twisting the bell of the light and moving it forward or back, then twisting it again to lock it down.

The other feature that’s ingenious is the mounting method. Most pistol lights are either made for certain pistols (GLOCK/SIG/Pic mount) or come with a passel of hardware to rig the light to fit your pistol’s mounting method.

The new Coast lights self-adjust. Coast calls this their Tru-Fit mount. There’s no additional hardware to keep track of. They have both a  “UNI” and “PIC” tab that rotates, depending on which one you need. The “UNI” tab fits mounts like GLOCK and SIG and the “PIC” is for — duh — standard Picatinny rails. The tabs slide forward and rearward to get them in just the right spot for the slot in your handgun, then lock down when you affix it to your rail.

Another great feature is the price. The base PTX model is 500 lumens, but doesn’t have the adjustable beam. It has an MSRP of $99. There’s a second 500 lumen model that adds the adjustable beam function for $129. Both lights run on a rechargeable or standard CR123 battery.

There’s also a larger 1000 lumen adjustable beam light, best for compact and full-size pistols, that runs on two batteries for $149.

  1. I can’t see myself shooting into a dark void. You might see a target with a light. But can you clearly see the backstop???
