Magpul was built on making less expensive, tough, lightweight and reliable polymer magazines. You know them as PMAGs. As they grew they expanded their line into magazines for other kinds of guns such as AKs, GLOCKs, AR10s, MP5s, Scorpions and more, and they were all made of standard polymer. Until now.
Last night Magpul revealed two new types of magazines, TMAGs and AMAGs. The transparent TMAG goes beyond the windows in Gen3 PMAG to give you a full 360 view of the rounds in your magazine.
From Magpul . . .
The TMAG – a new line of translucent magazines made with an Olive Drab Translucent material – is the first translucent magazine that meets our GEN M3 standards, which has been the bar for our magazines for years. After a decade in development, the TMAG is the newest addition to our STANAG-compatible magazines and allow shooters to visibly verify various ammunition types as well as round count.
Externally, ribbed front and rear straps provide a textured surface to securely grip the TMAG during magazine changes, yet the sides are left smooth to ensure visibility. Meeting our GEN M3 standards, the TMAG uses similar internal geometry as our PMAG. The four-way, anti-tilt follower is paired with a durable USGI-spec, stainless-steel spring with a painted coil, which maintains the “gas gauge” capability from the “Window” magazine product line.
The magazine body is clearly marked to show approximate round counts when inserted in a magazine well, and the paint-pen dot matrix allows for aftermarket markings to be applied by shooters. The TMAG’s low-profile floor plate also allows for compatibility with the full line of Magpul floor-plate accessories. Equally important, while we made the TMAG a product with no compromises in quality, we still made it affordable.
TMAGs for 5.56/.223 have an MSRP of $24.95 and will start shipping in the spring.
With the new AMAG, Magpul is now going beyond polymer.
Magpul’s AMAG series of magazines are built for guns only compatible with metal magazines due to the strict dimensional limitations imposed by modern pistols’ narrow mag wells, making the use of polymer magazines that maintain our expectations of reliability and durability impossible.
The AMAG 17 SG9 is a 17-round SIG 9mm Handgun Magazine featuring a stainless-steel body with polymer sub-components. Magpul SIG magazines come with many of our standard proven features, including a high-visibility, controlled-tilt follower, stainless-steel spring, flared floorplate that’s easily removable for cleaning and routine maintenance, paint-pen dot matrix for magazine marking, and capacity-indicator windows which begin at five (5) rounds, and continue along the spine of the magazine in one (1)-round increments. Even with all these features, the AMAG is still competitively priced. The AMAG is now shipping.
The first AMAG version is built for SIG P320 and M17 handguns with an MSRP of $34.95. They’re hitting stores now.
