Looting has become so pervasive amongst the Great Los Angeles Wildfire that some homeowners have resorted to (*gasp*) the Second Amendment to protect their homes since the authorities can’t or will not do so. Ignoring mandatory evacuation orders, these residents walk their neighborhoods, watching for unknown people and questioning them.
It’s not as if cops haven’t already made a slew of arrests of those with low impulse control and lack of morality.

And if looters on scooters show up in these neighborhoods patrolled by residents with guns, the neighborhood watch folks have a solution for that as well, a la the Korean merchants during the Rodney King Riots a generation or two ago.

From ZeroHedge:
With police forces overwhelmed by the enormous scope of devastation in Los Angeles County, residents are starting to take matters into their own hands, defying mandatory evacuation orders to instead guard their homes and their neighbor’s property with firearms.
As we reported yesterday, losses from the wildfires in Los Angeles county are poised to reach $250 billion or more. Property isn’t only being destroyed — it’s also being stolen by brazen looters. The neighbor of one LA county resident gave a disturbing description of what was going on on their street: “There were like a hundred people that came up on scooters and were trying to get into any and all houses on this street.”
In response, LA County Sheriff Robert Luna has imposed a curfew, saying, “We’re not screwing around with this; we don’t want people taking advantage of our residents that have already been victimized.” Of course, strong words are little defense against looters determined to prey on vulnerable innocents. Much as the bad guys ignore strong words, so too are plenty of good guys and gals who are opting to defy evacuation orders so they can secure their own property.
“I have no patience for any of [the police],” wealth-management firm president Ross Gerber told the Wall Street Journal. “After you survive this, you don’t care what they say.” Toting a firearm, Gerber has been sneaking into and out of the mandatory evacuation zone to check on his house. He says he’s also joined neighbors in walking the streets and questioning those they don’t recognize.
No doubt the authorities likely maintain an skeptical view of those “untrained” locals protecting their own homes from looters on scooters. Nevertheless, desperate times call for desperate measures. And given how thinly the police are spread in the midst of this massive regional disaster, armed Americans may be the only thing standing between civilization and anarchy.
The light of the fire exposes the hypocrisy of the far left hollywood wealthy.

Eight looters were arrested in TN after the Hurricane Helene-induced flooding. They were all “newcomers.” Democrats will be crying when Trump’s admin deports them.
According to the California Department of Insurance (CDI), seven out of 12 of the Golden State’s top insurers cut coverage in the state over the past four years.
Insurance companies study risk. They saw the looming disaster and got the heck out of Dodge. The majority of residents will continue to vote for incompetent leaders.
As a former resident of california. Born and raised there.I can tell you that california will replace Mississippi as the poorest state in the union.
There will be a hand full of rich folks. Like in Mississippi. But the majority of california resident will be below the poverty level.
There will be no small or medium business investment. When they can’t get or afford the necessary insurance.
The difference is the people in charge do care about all Mississippi resident. But that is not the case in california. The unelected and the elected leadership of california don’t care about the residents in california.
The oil refineries in california are shutting down. Gasoline is $9 a gallon.
California is a socialist marxist state. But they don’t wear the chairman Mao clothing yet.
Most americans don’t know it. But there were rich people in communist countries.
Communist california has them.
Dude,
One of the hallmarks of Far Left Progressive Supporters is their ability to deny reality. Of course businesses with responsible owners do not deny reality. Hence the insurance companies (which apparently have responsible owners) saw reality and responded accordingly.
As for the Far Left Progressive Supporters in California, they just experienced the saying, “Reality is a harsh mistress.” The really fun question is whether or not they learn from it. I doubt it.
I don’t care about them. They voted to keep the current governor. They didn’t want Larry Elder. The Mulford Act is still the law in California. And it will be ok for rich white people, to open carry guns protecting their private property.
Just not anyone else.
