Bay Area mayors gathered in Oakland on Friday joining Brady, the gun-control advocacy group, to announce a new regional approach to preventing gun violence — targeting illicit gun dealers.
“Guns know no boundaries,” said Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee before she joined other city leaders for a conference at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center.
“This has got to stop. We’ve got to get the weapons of war off the streets of America, and we have to make sure that we work together,” Lee said.
Brady President Kris Brown said, “Let’s focus on the supply side.”
Brown said irresponsible gun dealers sell to straw purchasers, weapons traffickers, and often do it off the books.
“Here in California, it’s 10% of the dealers that are responsible for 50% of the guns recovered in crime,” Brown said. …
Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez said his officers have been researching the supply side of gun violence.
“We need to make sure that they are penalized for making our streets less safe by providing guns,” Martinez said. “In Richmond, we’ve had the Police Department start identifying the weapons and sourcing them just so that we have and idea of where they’re coming from.”

That’s a lie by deceptive presentation, it was previously debunked because of the use of the word ‘dealers’. When they say ‘dealers’ they are including private individuals who sell a gun to someone else (criminal to criminal) but this includes criminal gang members which are the main source of criminal guns in California. But publicly when the anti-gun org says ‘Here in California, it’s 10% of the dealers that are responsible for 50% of the guns recovered in crime,’, people see the word ‘dealers’ and automatically think ‘FFL gun stores’. Its a deceptive representation, they never qualify it – thus its a lie because the majority of crime guns in California are sold to other criminals by criminal gang members in California that California doesn’t do anything about.
Sounds like they have evidence. Share it with us, give it to the the ATF or shut the hell up and leave law abiding folks alone.

I find it incredibly interesting that Mayor Lee fails to voice and support a much more effective alternative strategy: get violent criminals off the streets of America.
But that would decrease violent crime which is very obviously *not* the goal. Ask your liberal friends and family why Democrats want violent crime, open borders, and endless government resources spent on non-citizens. What would be the end goal of a political party that did those things?

AYFKMRN??? The “violent criminals” are her constituents and probably a substantial chunk of her voters. It is ironic that so many of the most violent cities have one thing in common – Dimocrat control, usually going back multiple decades. And many of them also have among the country’s most restrictive “gun laws”. Perhaps it has more to do with the Dimocrat base than any particular gun laws?? Nah, couldn’t be.
There are weapons of war on the streets? Where? I’ll go pick them up so they don’t get run over or rusty.
And anybody labeling an AR-15 a “weapon of war” is just proving their ignorance. Few people, even from the Brady Bunch, would consider the bolt-action Springfield 30-06 a “weapon of war”, and yet our Army and Marines fought WW I largely with bolt-action Springfields. Name the war (that the US was involved in) where the AR-15 was an issue weapon. The hoplophobes on the anti-gun side, if they weren’t allowed to spout ignorance, lies, and appeals to emotion, would have nothing to say.

They like the chaos inducing violence. That’s why they don’t prosecute criminals. And order the local police to stand down.
Trump deploying the National guard really screws up their plans. The residents have become accustomed to the crime. But seeing a republican president successfully stop it will cause many to change the way they vote.
How many will change their votes? Enough to keep the congress in republican control.
