The changes and sentence was just sooooo very wrong and unfair. The whole thing should have been dismissed.
It he had run over the bad guy with his car to stop the bad guy, if he had used a club to stop the bad guy, if he had physically tackled the bad guy and stopped him – nothing would have been done to him and there would have been no charges. Of course he would have been also placing his own life and those of others on the line more assuredly because the bad guy was armed – but he would not have needed a permission slip to defend himself and others from the bad guy and his age would not matter one little bit and he would have been adult enough to do that, and vote, and go into the military, etc… but because he carried a legally owned gun in an area known for its violent criminals with illegal guns and other weapons, he suddenly is not permitted to defend himself or others because he did not have a permission slip to carry the gun because he is 19 years old instead of 21 years old.
The guy just stopped what was in effect likely to turn into a ‘mass-shooting’ incident. He is a hero. Yet all he gets is a judge with a stupid mindset and sentenced with a ‘ya didn’t have a permission slip to defend your self and others’.
Its a good thing he was armed that day at that time in that place – if not having anyone to stop him the bad guy would have most likely seriously injured or taken more lives and by acting the way he was showed every indication of doing so.
Once again, a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with evil intent.

One can only wonder how the judge would have reacted had he or one of his family or friends been saved by the 19 yr old-actions!
Prosecutorial discretion…you know the thing they use to let criminal aliens, among others, off the hook. They didn’t have to charge him, but they wanted to.
Judge: “Fortunately, you weren’t injured, but nonetheless, you had a gun there in the first place, which was poor judgment,” the judge said. “And what do you need a gun for protection in a mall, in the first place?”
Imagine saying this after the fact. This person’s job is literally to exercise good judgment.
I defended my family and myself from a home invasion of 5 “teens” in 2018 in Virginia Beach. I used my legally owned Glock, I did not shoot a single round but chased the “ teens” outside and pinned them down in the bushes till the police arrived. I was immediately arrested for brandishing absolutely nothing happened to the “ teens” who were pushed the front door open with one of them threatening to punch my wife, “ I’m gonna beat your white ass bitch” I was convicted of 5 misdemeanor counts of brandishing the police and “teens” lied under oath. I learned later that the Commonwealth attorney for Virginia Beach at the time had a standing order for cops “ if a gun is involved arrest the person with the gun” needless to say I moved to another more freedom oriented state and locality ( southeast NC) . I’m glad I did my business is doing great here Virginia Beach is a dump and the surf sucks.

Was this possibly a minimum sentence allowed by law?
How has this judge sentenced others for the same “offense”?

This sounds like the typical insanity of an agenda driven leftist woman judge like the ones doing so much damage’
