Another Anti-Gun Police Chief Busted, This One in Connecticut

Meet Karl Jacobson, the now-former police chief of New Haven, Connecticut. For virtually his entire career in police administration, he’s been a dedicated crusader against the pesky Second Amendment we mere mortals dare to exercise.

For years, this guy was a face of “gun violence” prevention, cozying up to anti-gun groups like Connecticut Against Gun Violence. He preached about treating gun ownership like a public health crisis, all while pushing programs to disarm the little people under the guise of safety. Because guns are icky and he has his.

But lo and behold, safety crusader Karl has been slapped with first-degree larceny charges for (allegedly) swiping almost a hundred grand in police department funds. Some of the money was for earmarked for…wait for it…youth programs for “at risk” kids. Thanks, Karl.

As with many of these big theft cases, there’s usually sex, drugs, or gambling behind the embezzlement. In this case, our fearless police chief was funding a gambling habit, racking up literally millions in wagers. Now the gun control crusader has been arrested, has resigned in disgrace and is facing prison. Talk about a plot twist worthy of a bad cop movie.

But wait. Jacobson’s not just a lone gibbon in this hypocritical zoo. He’s just the latest entry in a grand tradition of anti-gun zealots who’ve been busted for corruption, proving that power corrupts faster than a politician’s promise. Jacobson joins high profile perps like Leland Yee, the Bay Area state senator and gun-control superstar, who pled guilty to arms trafficking. Or Bob Menendez, the New Jersey senator and vocal gun-control advocate who was sentenced to 11 years for corruption. Because nothing says “trust me on gun laws” like taking bribes from abroad while lecturing Americans on their safety.

Closer to home for me, Illinois is famous for anti-gun governors who have left office to start a new career making license plates. Most recently, anti-gun crusaders Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan were both sent to prison, proving that anti-2A zealots from both political parties can support gun control while committing crimes in office.

Then there are the smaller scale corruptocrats like Chicago’s Ed Burke, the longtime alderman who championed handgun bans and strict gun control laws in Murder City, USA. In 2023, he was convicted on racketeering, bribery, and extortion after shaking down businesses for personal gain. Oh, and his wife served as the Chief Justice on the Illinois Supreme Court for a time as well.

Don’t forget Michael Madigan, the longest-serving Illinois House Speaker. He hated gun rights for good guys and made our lives hell, then carrying on the grand Illinois tradition, he was busted for corruption. But there’s nothing to see here.  Move along.

The list goes on and on. Don’t Google “mayors against illegal guns arrested” or you’ll get pages of examples of anti-gun elected officials arrested on a cornucopia of criminal charges…including illegal guns.

These self-righteous public servants scream about “common-sense” restrictions for the peasants. And when the cuffs come out, it’s always for embezzlement, trafficking, or taking bribes. Hypocrisy at its finest: fighting for a disarmed populace while lining their own pockets. If only we could ban corrupt politicians as easily as they enact bans on AR-15s.
