A NJ Woman’s Multiple Requests for Help Were Ignored and Now Three People are Dead

Lauren Semanchik

New Jersey Women For Gun Rights expresses condolences to the families of Lauren Semanchik and Tyler Webb who were slain last Friday night, by New Jersey State Police Lt. Ricardo J. Santos, who died by suicide after the slayings. We are deeply saddened that Dr. Semanchik, who worked as a veterinarian, was unable to get the help she requested multiple times from law enforcement.

This is a scenario faced by too many women. Dr. Semanchik reported harassment and stalking to the police departments where she lived and worked. Those departments failed her. It’s unclear why the police took no action; whether it was to protect a fellow officer, because he had a high profile executive protection position, or because they didn’t take harassment and stalking seriously. It is, once again, a wholesale failure of the system.

According to the New Jersey Globe, Santos was was protecting New Jersey’s First Assistant Attorney General. “Santos, a member of the State Police’s elite Executive Protection Unit, has been assigned to the security detail of Lyndsay Ruotolo, who serves as the number two person at the Department of Law and Public Safety…. Santos had previously protected Gov. Phil Murphy and his predecessor, Chris Christie.”

New Jersey has extreme risk protection orders by which someone can be “red-flagged” resulting in confiscation of their firearms. This case proves that red flags are not a cure all that anti-gun folks claim it to be, as it was not even invoked.  And would it have stopped him? Likely, no. We have also been falsely told that “only the police should have guns” and the police will defend us.

The other problem is having two sets of rules for ordinary citizens and law enforcement. Gun rights activists have cautioned against this while testifying at hearings in Trenton.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has taken command of the Franklin Township police due to “serious concerns” about their effectiveness…and placed the police chief and a sergeant on leave.

Jennine Semanchik, Lauren’s mother, said her daughter reached out to a local police department where she worked, and the State Police for assistance. …And “she could not get help from anyone,” she said.

This is ghoulishly reminiscent of the tragic case of Carol Bowne from Berlin, New Jersey. She was murdered by an ex-boyfriend in 2015. She had a restraining order against her boyfriend, but it was not enough. The police department failed to issue her firearms ID card in a timely manner and she had no means to defend herself in time.

The Second Amendment community in New Jersey has resources to get you and your loved ones trained in safely using a firearm. Women For Gun Rights can provide guidance in navigating the arduous process of obtaining your New Jersey firearms identification card. These steps can assist you in becoming your own first responder.

  1. Ladies, do yourselves a favor and don’t get involved with cops. PTSD, self-medicating, power tripping, government agents.

    Nothing good for you there.

    1. Democrats Are Using Fake D.C. Crime Stats to Blast Trump’s Latest Move.

federal takeover of the city’s police force and law enforcement triggered outrage from Democrats and the liberal media, who insist that crime in D.C. is at record lows.

‘Violent crime in Washington, D.C. is at a thirty-year low,’ House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries wrote in a post on X. ‘Donald Trump has no basis to take over the local police department. And zero credibility on the issue of law and order. Get lost.

      CNN reported similar claims:

The Washington Post similarly reported that ‘Local and federal data … paint a contrasting picture’ to what Trump claimed in the press conference.

      1. D.C. Police Are Now Under Federal Control.

Speaking from the White House Monday morning, President Donald Trump announced he is deploying the National Guard to the streets of Washington D.C. to restore law and order against ‘wild youths,’ ‘homeless’ and ‘maniacs.’ The Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is now under the command of Attorney General Pam Bondi and Home Rule has been invoked.

President Trump announces that he’s federalizing the D.C. metro police and deploying the National Guard to secure the city:

‘I’m announcing a historic action to rescue our Nation’s Capitol from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse.’

‘The murder rate in Washington today is higher than that of Bogotá, Colombia,’ Trump continued. ‘The number of car thefts has doubled over the past five years, and the number of carjackings has more than tripled.’

Trump also vowed to go after illegal aliens in the city who work with ‘homegrown criminals.’ Gang task forces will begin work to remove them from the streets immediately.

        1. The Press and Dems Push Back on Trump D.C. Announcement, but There’s Proof They Are Lying About the Data.

According to sources, the conspiracy is widespread and essentially an unstated policy. The D.C. police union, which has been working to expose all this, says that multiple supervisors have been reclassifying crimes so that they don’t show up in the reports.

‘When our members respond to the scene of a felony offense where there is a victim reporting that a felony occurred, inevitably there will be a lieutenant or a captain that will show up on that scene and direct those members to take a report for a lesser offense,’ Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Gregg Pemberton said. ‘So, instead of taking a report for a shooting or a stabbing or a carjacking, they will order that officer to take a report for a theft or an injured person to the hospital or a felony assault, which is not the same type of classification.’

The police department’s command staff is focusing on two categories in order to get the numbers to fall, Pemberton said: armed with a dangerous weapon and injured person to the hospital.

‘When management officials are directing officers to take reports for felony assault, or if they’re going back into police databases and changing offenses to felony assault, felony assault is not a category of crime that’s listed on the department’s daily crime stats,’ Pemberton said. ‘It’s also not something that’s a requirement of the FBI’s uniform crime reporting program. So, by changing criminal offenses from, for example, ADW bat or ADW gun to felony assault, that would avoid both the MPD and the FBI from reporting that as a part one or a felony offense.’

In other words, department leaders have been changing stabbings, shootings, and carjackings to lesser classifications like felony assault because then they will not show up in the daily crime statistics. Those crimes are also not required to be reported to the FBI, which is where most crime statistics are compiled nationwide.

So the next time you see the press or a Democrat politician claim ‘crime is down in D.C.’ as a way to push back on the administration, know that they are citing discredited statistics that were birthed out of a scandal that’s been unfolding for months. No one should believe anything the MPD puts out, and anyone who goes along with their numbers is being willfully dishonest.

          1. Trump WH Shares ACTUAL D.C. Crime Stats TOTALLY Debunking Democrat’s FAKE-AF Talking Points.

-In 2024, Washington, DC had the fourth-highest homicide rate in the US, with a homicide rate nearly SIX TIMES HIGHER than New York City.
-Washington D.C.’s homicide rate also topped Atlanta, Chicago and Compton.
-Washington, D.C. has one of the highest robbery and murder rates among large U.S. cities nationwide

Gosh, Democrats are lying about violent crime in D.C.?!

  2. they didn’t take harassment and stalking seriously

Serious question: Do they ever take it seriously unless you’re a VIP?

    1. Police, generally, do not take complaints of harassment and stalking seriously in a ‘lets do something about this now’ manner unless there is something ‘actionable now’ or its some sort of high-profile thing or someone notable. Mostly, for most, its the standard stuff like ‘get a protection order’ stuff and the police don’t ‘do something about it now’.

But, one thing is certain – no ‘protection order’ or law ever prevented the perpetrator from injuring or killing or continue harassing or stalking the victim if the perpetrator chose to do so anyway thus the fallacy and uselessness of ‘protection orders’ and law because they depend on the choice of the person to follow the law or ‘protection order requirements’. But what happens when the person simply chooses not to follow the law or ‘protection order requirements’? The law or ‘protection order requirements’ can not stop them from making the choice to not follow the law or ‘protection order requirements’. There has never been a law or ‘protection order’ that prevented an in-progress crime from beginning.
