It’s Almost Like American Gun Owners Knew What Was Coming

Anti-gun Democrats swept the midterms last night, not just at the national level, taking control of both the House and Senate, but also in a number of key states. Kansas elected its first Democrat Senator in almost a century and it was a blue bloodbath here in Texas.

The polls and the prediction markets in advance of the midterms were, for once, right. Beyond that, for those paying attention, the atmosphere during the run-up to Tuesday’s elections felt…ominous. Maybe that’s the reason that gun sales in October spiked the way they did.

According the the NSSF’s monthly report, October’s adjusted NICS checks jumped almost eight percent.

Politics and a perceived increased threat of more gun control has always been a motivating factor as elections approach. As the NSSF’s Mark Oliva put it before yesterday’s results were known . . .

It is evident that gun owners are already voting with their wallets when it comes to their Second Amendment rights, even as Americans are heading to their polling places to vote in federal and state elections.

Some of the spike could also be a result of the new landscape for NFA-covered items like suppressors and SBRs. There’s been a surge in sales of those thanks to the ability to now skip the NFA Form 4 process and buy those items now just like any other firearm…with just a 4473 and a background check.

Still, this was the biggest October NICS number since the pandemic buying frenzy. And while those NFA items no doubt played a role, you have to wonder how much of October’s jump was the result of gun owners reading the political tea leaves and doing what they normally do when things trend blue…buy and buy some more.

  1. Allegedly they won because of costs. Lets willingly delude ourselves for a minute and assume Democrats are NOT the enemies of oil and the friends of taxation.
So what will their priorities be?
    Gun control, ICE and impeachment.
They’ll waste two years doing nothing whatsoever for the issues they were allegedly elected to handle.

    1. Costs, the Epstein psy-op, and the J-o-o-s run everything psy-op. Yes. Democrats are very good at messaging, and they control the media and most institutions. It looks like the Dems got all the swing voters and then some. It doesn’t matter that Dems hate affordable fuel. What matters to low info voters is voting against the party they blame for their pain. People weren’t voting for candidates; they were voting against a political party.

I see some very major issues: 1) Dems control the Senate, so they control the appointment of new judges. Alito and Thomas will be retiring soon. 2) Republicans won’t win a future presidential election without Texas’s Electoral College votes.

  2. I look forward to the reports of just how few gun owners and hunters voted. There is a very large segment of them, who think their guns will always be in their possession.

And they think that voting is just a waste of time. And they think both parties are the same.

So you think the courts will “save” you???

Do you really think the red communist states will obey the courts???

This country has a history of the states ignoring court rulings.

The Libertarians liberals and leftists have always hated the “Bible belt”.
The have permitless carry there now.
