  1. Geoff "I'm getting too old for this shit" PR

I have proudly kept the most important New Year’s resolution, not to make any more stupid New Year’s resolutions for over *50* years now.

    And I will not break it… 😉

      1. Hush, Geoff,

I would make a New Year’s resolution if there was anything about myself that I knew I could change. But I am stubbornly intransigent, ornery, embedded in my habits, and vainly proud of my flaws. So, there is nothing to change.

My wife, however, sees things differently.

  2. Each new year, I reset the counters on my workout spreadsheet:

    Total pounds of iron lifted.
    Average iron per workout day.
    Average iron per calendar day.
    Total aerobic minutes.
Average aerobic minutes per workout day.
Average aerobic minutes per calendar day.
Ratio of workout days to calendar days.

My only goal is to not do less than the prior year.

    For 2025, I may add:

    Days at the range
    Rounds fired.

Tracking the numbers is a great motivator. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to skip a workout, but when I looked at the numbers, I mustered the self-discipline.

  3. I would never recommend that anyone hold their breath while waiting for any government to reduce its size and reach.

Governments are nothing more than a specific type of bureaucracy. Never, ever forget the number one priority of bureaucracies: increasing their size and reach.
