So far, everything I’ve used from Mantis has been downright awesome. I’ve used their Blackbeard training tool for the AR-15 rifle and it’s great. Now they’ve just released the TitanX, a laser pistol that is an all-in-one training system.

I assumed Mantis would make something more along the lines of the DryFireMag. This is closer to a pistol version of the Blackbeard, but the TitanX knocks it out of the ballpark. During SHOT 2025, they teased some new products that I’ve been excited to see hit the market. So far, the TitanX is the first item to hit the market from that sneak peek.
I’ve been using the new TitanX pistol for a few weeks now and here’s a quick rundown of what I think of it so far.
New TitanX training pistol
This isn’t something you install into an existing gun like the Mantis Blackbeard. Instead, the TitanX is a complete optic-ready laser training pistol. The one I’ve been using is the GLOCK 19 version so I can use the same holster and accessories as I do on the real thing.
The TitanX slide is non-functioning, but the trigger pull feels just like the one on my GLOCK. You get two dummy magazines with the TitanX that are functional with the mag release so if you want to add some mag changes to your drills, you can do it with this gun.

Mantis went with a Gen5 mag release which is a nice touch. I’m not planning to use real magazines in the TitanX, but I was curious and had to see if they fit. Real GLOCK mags will, in fact, fit in the TitanX, but they don’t fall out freely as the TitanX magazines do. The TitanX mags will fit and lock into place in a real GLOCK pistol, too.

The TitanX has basic GLOCK-style iron sights and an optics plate so you can add an optic. The iron sights are all black so I will probably add some white fingernail polish to them. They’re not hard to use, but I like having some white color on my sights.
Weight and feel
The gun itself isn’t quite as heavy as a real GLOCK pistol, but they added some weight to the magazine. The TitanX weighs 7.9 oz without the magazine. When you compare that to an unloaded GLOCK (1lbs, 5.9oz) the TitanX feels pretty light, but with the magazine inserted, the TitanX comes in at 1lbs, 1.1oz compared to a loaded G19 weighing of 1lbs, 15oz. So basically, the TitanX is about 14 ounces lighter than a loaded GLOCK. While that’s significant, I can’t say it’s that noticeable though once you start training with it.

As far as the grip and feel of the trigger, it’s no different than your GLOCK 19. You can’t hear the firing pin snap like you do on a GLOCK, but the trigger pull and break are great. On my trigger gauge I got an average of 4.2 lbs. which is slightly lighter than an average GLOCK pistol, but still in the ballpark.
Using the TitanX
You can use the TitanX by itself or with the MantisX training app. When using the pistol by itself, you can practice firing at a target and easily see where the laser is hitting. Of course, when you pair it with the free app, you get all the additional benefits it has to offer.

There are a ton of drills you can do using your smart phone with the MantisX app downloaded. There’s even a holster draw drill that is perfect for the TitanX.
I use the app with my Blackbeard system installed in my AR-15. If you haven’t seen this app before you need to check it out. Every time you run a drill or fire the gun, it gives you valuable feedback. This can help you improve your shooting by giving you tips and pointers it picks up from the movement of the gun.

To pair the TitanX with the MantisX training app, press on the button that is located on top of the slide. One quick push and you’ll see a blue light flashing. Then press ‘connect’ on the app and you’re done. To disconnect it, just press and hold the same button.

You can adjust the point of aim on the laser by using windage and elevation screws on the front portion of the slide. If you want the laser to stay on while you adjust it, press the same button on top of the slide twice. Press it again and it turns off.
Set it up like your everyday carry pistol
Because it’s a designed like a GLOCK, it works with all the same gear you use with your real GLOCK pistol. I use optics on some of my GLOCKs and iron sights on others. For the first couple of weeks, I kept things simple and stuck with the iron sights during training. Recently however, I decided to add an optic and a light, so it had the same setup as the EDC I use for work.
The cutout for an optic has two mounitng patterns on it. I used the wider ones for an RMR footprint. The narrower screws are for RMS/RMSc mounted optics. There are no front posts, but there’s no slide movement or recoil to deal with.

The laser adjustment screws on the front of the slide made it easy to set my point of aim with the irons. From there, I adjusted the dot on the Holosun to match the TitanX laser. Once I had the optic and light installed, I pulled out my Safariland holsters and did some holster drills and everything fit just fine.
Another cool feature of the MantisX training app is that it keeps track of your shooting score so you can see your progress over time. Whenever I trained, the app told me that, based on my results, I didn’t have enough of my finger on the trigger. I adjusted it just a hair and…I started getting higher scores.
Train every day
A USB-C charging port is located on the right side of the slide just above the trigger. I’m not sure how long the TitanX will run on a full charge, but it’s a long time. I’ve been using mine every day since I received it, and I’ve never charged it.

There’s no on or off switch…all you have to do is pick it up and start shooting. You really can’t get any easier than that and it makes it hard to find excuses not to train. I have a small stick-on reflective target on the door of my shop that I use as an aiming point. I’ve also found any room of your home will work great. Just pick a few small targets like a light switch, an outlet, or a doorknob and start training. I’ve found most helpful with the Mantis TitanX is that I’ve increased my target acquisition speed.
Mantis is offering the TitanX for the GLOCK 19, 17, and 45 models now. Later this year they’ll roll out versions for the SIG P320 and P365 models as well. Again, the MantisX training app is free with the TitanX and also works with Mantis’s Laser Academy app.
If you own a handgun, I would definitely check out the new TitanX training pistol. You can train every day at home and improve your shooting without spending a dime on ammo.
