At SHOT Show this year Henry Rifles announced its Special Products Division (SPD), which is “dedicated to pioneering advancements in firearms design and technology.”
The most obvious stand-out in the SPD section of the Henry booth was carbon fiber barrels from BSF Barrels. We use a lot of BSF barrels in Black Collar Arms rifle builds and they have been nothing short of reliably excellent and insanely lightweight. I believe this is the first carbon fiber lever gun barrel on the market. At least it’s the first I’ve seen or heard of.
This display model is chambered in .45-70 Gov’t with a JK Armament RPX 45CAL suppressor and some modern furniture.
Although still in its early prototype stages, the skeletonized aluminum stock and aluminum handguard covered in M-LOK slots is lightweight and modern. It’s also much more functional than a traditional stock. Note that the unit above appears to accept 1911 grip panels so it can be readily customized by the end user.
It’s exciting to see a company rooted in traditional firearms, design, and manufacture also putting resources and focus on the future. We’ll keep an eye on Henry’s SPD.
Yes. Bring the lever gun into the 21st century.
