Could this be a harbinger of good things to come? Are the powers at be at Smith & Wesson optimistic enough in the changes possible under Trump 2.0 that they’ve announced SBR models of their M&P15 AR line?
Probably not. Given the length of the product cycle, these new SKUs have no doubt been in the works since well before the results of the election raised hopes of changes to products covered under the NFA. That being said, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed. More SBR (and SBS for that matter) models are always a good thing after all.
Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, has announced the commercial release of three M&P15 SBR models.
This rifle series combines versatility and reliability, providing users with more customization options than previous generations. Key features shared across the three models include a forged, integral trigger guard for enhanced safety, an Armornite finished 11.5” barrel for superior corrosion resistance, a chromed firing pin for dependable ignition, and a forward assist for positive chambering. Models 13622 and 13623 are equipped with a B5 Systems grip and SOPMOD stock, while model 13493 features a Magpul MOE grip and adjustable stock. Depending on your preferred model, additional available features include M&P, Radian, or Troy charging handles, as well as the option of a free-float or fixed handguard with M-LOK capabilities.
M&P15 SBR rifles are lightweight, rugged, and showcase an exceptional balance of function and form, ensuring they can endure the rigors of use while maintaining a sleek and modern appearance. Every detail of these rifles reflects a commitment to quality and performance.

Covered under NFA…No Thanks.

All the more for the rest of us to buy and enjoy.
There’s an old saying – “The best is the enemy of the good enough”…
I’m pretty sure most people willing to waste money on tax stamps aren’t buying M&P ARs of all things.
Of course you can switch out the upper on a registered SBR lower, but these don’t seem like good deals. Nearly $1,300? Yikes! I thought these were a semi-budget options.
And good enough doesn’t require a $200 government fee.
