Amazon MGM Uses AI to Eliminate James Bond’s Guns

Remember when HBO Max (previously HBO, later just Max, now HBO Max again) decided that Elmer Fudd’s shotgun was simply too violent an image for impressionable little minds? Yeah, they figured showing Fudd chasing Bugs Bunny with a scythe was far better than stalking him with a smoothbore, so they re-drew a lot of the original toons. Mercifully, HBO was eventually shamed into once again restoring the Looney Tunes character’s firearm.

But anti-gun Hollywood’s impulse to bowdlerize never seems to really die.

The latest offender: Amazon. Amazon MGM Studios bought the 007 franchise back in February. Now the videos are up on Amazon Prime Video for you to watch. Only…Mike Hopkins, head of the studio, has apparently decided that letting people see Walther PPK pistols as they browse for Goldfinger or GoldenEye is more than the modern consumer can handle.

So, given what AI can do these days, the solution was simple…zap the guns.

Here’s what you see when you look for a James Bond movie on Amazon Prime now . . .

amazone prime video james bond 007

Nary a PPK in sight.

Nope, no pistols. Here’s what a Dr. No poster used to look like . . .

And GoldenEye . . .

Say goodbye to those Walthers, at least until you rent the movie. All you’ll see until then is some British bloke in a Saville Row suit.

But hold on. It’s likely to get worse. Given the, uh, “magic” of generative AI, it’s probably just a matter of time before Amazon makes sure that the only weapon that Q gives Mr. Bond to chase down Ernst Stavro Blofeld is — you guessed it — a scythe.

  1. You don’t need AI to do this. Steven Spielberg removed the FBI agent’s guns in his movie, “ET” in the 1980s.

And since this is private property , the smartest people in the room certainly would make no moral judgments. About what the owner does with their private property.

    1. He has since said he regrets having done that in a rambling rant about artistic integrity and respecting the time and context in which a work was made.

So not only did he cuck to shallow and moronic pressures he then had to admit raped his own work and tarnished his legacy because of the same type of petty peer influences that nudge children into making stupid decisions.

      1. Rumor has it that actor Charleston Heston, refused to loan him guns during the LA riots back in 1992. Calling Spielberg a liberal who supported waiting periods.

Heston told him he could wait to get a gun. As criminals ran through his neighborhood. Looking for things to steal.

  2. There are also people who believe if you make pot legal. Then then all the crime will disappear along with the guns disappearing too.

  3. Washington Judge Issues Bogus Extreme Risk Protection Order & Takes Away Montana Man’s Guns!?

” have detected some really ugly gun control leaking into Montana from liberal states.

How can that happen, you ask. The Legislature is not in session, and even when it is, MSSA kills any gun control bills so they can’t become bad law here.

Here is how it happens. An upstanding guy married and living in Montana called an old girlfriend living in the Seattle area, to ask a question. That’s all he did, ask a question.

The former girlfriend contacted local (in Washington) police and reported that she’d felt threatened. Washington has Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs or a “Red Flag Law”) (Note – Montana law prohibits ERPOs), under which a judge can issue a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) in an “ex parte” (only the accuser’s side of the story is told) manner.
A Washington judge issued a TRO that, among other restraints, prohibited this Montana guy from possessing firearms.

The TRO was communicated to the town where the Montana guy lives and the local police department enforced the TRO by confiscating all of this Montana guy’s firearms. Done.

Because this guy had not been to Washington in three decades and because the accusing girlfriend recanted her story of threat, the judge reviewing the TRO dismissed it.

However, this Montana victim still cannot get his firearms returned.

  4. The Left Has Abandoned Rational Debate And Embraced Political Violence.

“With each passing day it becomes more obvious that the left has become incapable of rational debate or political compromise, and must now embrace the only tools available to it: intimidation, coercion, and political violence. Whatever liberals might believe about their progressive politics, today their program is based not on persuasion or representation, still less on open-minded rational inquiry or practical solutions to problems. It’s based on force.

  5. Murder those who have a different view from yours. Censor the mass media.

Sounds like the fascist left doing what it do. Anybody surprised?

  6. Can’t even call it a photoshop because photoshopping requires a human with skill. These AI edits look ridiculous and low-quality.

  7. Is this supposed to save lives or something, as he votes for open borders and soft on crime Democrats? Are those images more harmful than fourteen time offenders terrorizing the subway or how about someone that accumulated nearly 40 charges and 25 felony counts within ten years? Should we worry about those people, Mike?

    1. Some people are just stupid, so stupid they can’t realize they are stupid. The really sad part though is there are others just as stupid that think its brilliance and convinced other stupid people. So the stupid proliferates in society among the stupid who then try to force-convince everyone not stupid that the stupid is acceptable.

  8. FAFO: Dem’s WORST NIGHTMARE Worsening As White House CUTS $18 BILLION From Dem Districts. [note: this makes $26 Billion cut from dem districts since dem Schumer had his temper tantrum wanting the republicans to fund health care for illegal aliens (which by the way is illegal, and the dems had been doing it for years by basically stealing money from other apportions and hiding the money path in other bills and medicade spending and through NGO’s) – so dems voted in such a way to shut down the government. So more FO for the dems now in $$$ and more incoming because Schumer lied and forced a government shut down to get something illegal to continue.]

  9. Virginia Dem AG Candidate Fantasized About Assassinating Republican, ‘Wished’ Death On His Kids.

“Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears quickly called on Jones to drop out of the race on Friday, linking him with his ‘running mate’ Spanberger.

Virginia Democrat Attorney General candidate and former Del. Jay Jones fantasized in conversations with a former colleague about assassinating then-state House Speaker Todd Gilbert, a Republican, and “wished” death upon Gilbert’s children, a new report revealed Friday.

The news comes after Republican state House Del. Kim Taylor, who is running for reelection in Virginia, said she received a death threat last week after Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger told her supporters to ‘let your rage fuel you.’

That kind of rhetoric has long been deployed by the assassination left to pre-justify and inspire violence against their political opponents. Pointing to left-wing violence like the assassination attempts of President Donald Trump, or the assassination of Charlie Kirk, or the attempted assassination of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Taylor noted, ‘violent rhetoric is not harmless–it puts real people in real danger.’

While Taylor said Spanberger tried to walk back her comments, the National Review revealed that Jones sent some dark text messages to a Republican legislator, Del. Carrie Coyner, describing the zeal with which he would apparently kill Gilbert. Jay sent the messages in August 2022, shortly after he resigned his seat in the state House of Delegates.

  10. What do you call 300K Venezuelans without legal residence in U.S.? SCOTUS answer (basically) ‘deportees’.

“The Supreme Court brushed aside a petulant attempt by a leftist judge to ignore its ruling and greenlighted the immediate removal of at least 300,000 Venezuelans living in the U.S. In a tersely worded opinion, the Court ruled 6-3 in favor of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s bid to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans who entered the U.S. under Joe Biden, saying, ‘Although the posture of the case has changed, the parties’ legal arguments and relative harms generally have not. The same result that we reached in May is appropriate here.’

  11. Amazon gave the Broccoli family $1 billion in February to let go of their creative control of the Bond franchise. Previously Amazon had to run -everything- by the family. Now they can do what they want. Can a black disabled tranny Bond be coming soon?

  12. There will probably come a time that any firearm shown on TV or depiction of human on human shooting will be blocked or pixilated out.

  13. Sometimes I wonder if we’re becoming a country that Mark Steyn described about other nations, “Too stupid to survive”.

  14. If these social engineers can take guns away from James Bond what will they take away next, only this time from you?
