CZ Gets Into the Modular Striker-Fired Pistol Business With the New CZ DUTY 9mm

CZ DUTY modular 9mm pistol

Modular may not be new any more, but it certainly seems to be the future. And why not? It only makes sense to buy one central serialized chassis — the legal “gun” — that requires paperwork and a background check, and then have the freedom to use it with a range of grip modules and slides that let you customize the gun any way you choose.

One day…smaller for concealed carry. The next day…full-size for home defense or duty use. On the weekend…still another combination for plinking, training or competition.

CZ isn’t the first to get on the modular train, but their new CZ DUTY platform looks promising. It’s not a replacement for their much-loved CZ P-10C striker-fired pistol, but an addition to their lineup for people who want the flexibility and options a modular platform gives them.

To start, they’re offering four versions of the CZ DUTY, both full-size and compact and with or without an ambidextrous frame safety.

Here’s their press release . . .

CZ today announced the launch of the all-new CZ DUTY, a new generation of striker-fired pistols built on an adaptable, modular platform.

Designed for serious use, the CZ DUTY brings together a serialized modular chassis, advanced safety features, refined ergonomics, an improved striker-fired trigger and a direct-mount optics system. The result is a pistol designed to adapt to the shooter while delivering the control, reliability and performance expected from CZ.

“The CZ DUTY represents a major step forward for our pistol lineup,” said Chris Sprangers, Director of Marketing for CZ-USA. “We didn’t set out to simply make another striker-fired pistol. DUTY was developed as a new platform from the ground up, giving shooters the modularity, safety and performance they expect while maintaining the characteristics that make it unmistakably CZ.”

CZ serialized modular chassis

At the heart of the CZ DUTY is its patented serialized modular chassis, which can be moved between compatible grip modules and configurations. This gives owners greater flexibility to configure the pistol around their needs and preferences.

Safety is built into the platform through a three-stage drop safety system, including drop, trigger and out-of-battery safeties. Manual-safety models add an ambidextrous safety, and the pistol can be disassembled without pulling the trigger.

The CZ DUTY also features a refined striker-fired trigger with smooth take-up, a defined wall, crisp break and short, tactile reset. Updated grip geometry, aggressive texturing and fully ambidextrous controls provide a secure and intuitive interface across a wide range of hand sizes.

A redesigned optics-ready system allows compatible red-dot optics to mount directly to the slide without a traditional adapter plate. A standardized pin system supports many common optic footprints, with aftermarket adapter plates available for additional compatible optics.

The CZ DUTY has undergone extensive endurance and environmental testing to validate reliability and durability under demanding conditions.

The CZ DUTY launches in four 9mm configurations:

    • CZ DUTY 4.0C — Compact configuration with 15- and 17-round magazine compatibility
    • CZ DUTY 4.0C MS — Compact configuration with ambidextrous manual safety
    • CZ DUTY 4.0F — Full-size configuration with 17- and 19-round magazine compatibility
    • CZ DUTY 4.0F MS — Full-size configuration with ambidextrous manual safety

All four models have an MSRP of $729 and will be available in the U.S. beginning October 6, 2026.

The CZ DUTY does not replace the CZ P-10 family. It establishes a new pistol platform within the CZ lineup and gives shooters another option for personal defense, professional use and everyday carry.

IT’S YOUR DUTY.
