A report by the Australia Institute earlier this year revealed that there are more than four million privately-owned firearms across the country – almost double the number from about 20 years ago.
That equates to one gun for every seven Australians, the report says.
Queensland has the most registered guns, followed by New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria while Tasmania and the Northern Territory have the most guns per person.
The report also dispels a common view that guns are mainly owned by rural residents.
Guns are widespread in metropolitan and suburban areas, with one in three firearms in NSW located in major cities, the report said.
The total figure has risen at a lower rate than population increases, but there are now more guns in fewer hands, with every licence holder owning an average of more than four firearms.
And that’s one of the key issues that [gun control advocate Roland] Browne wants the government to address.
Currently, only one jurisdiction – Western Australia – has a cap on the number of legal firearms that a licence holder can have. Under new laws introduced in March this year, gun owners can have between five and ten firearms, depending on the type of licence and model of firearm.
Authorities have confirmed that one of the alleged gunmen, Sajid Akram who was killed at the scene of the Bondi attack, owned six registered guns.
Mr Browne wants a cap of one to three guns, depending on the licence category, to be introduced across Australia.

TBF there are several conclusions the government will likely come to including the one where they believe they didn’t punish gun owners enough.
Maybe they haven’t imported enough militant third worlders?
Maybe they didn’t harass enough locals who’ve complained about the behavior of said third worlders?
Maybe they didn’t tell the Jewish population that their complaints of antisemitism were racist loudly enough?
Rest assured that whatever it takes, whatever the cost, the Australian government and nearly every other government claiming to espouse western ideals will not rest until their local populations fully submit to a complete loss of liberty and paying out of their own pockets to fund their takeover by decidedly illiberal second and third worlders. The end-game to all their unchecked suicidal tolerance is in full motion and nothing will stop it.
The government’s biggest fear is that a terrorist attack will trigger Islamophobia.
I saw a movie recently that tossed in some propaganda completely unrelated to the plot (imagine that) about Islamophobia. When was the last time you saw Hollywood do that with Christianity? Instead, Christians are usually depicted as weird, dangerous zealots.
We have four different vehicles, each properly registered and we have a license to drive them. So under the Australian ‘wants a cap of one to three guns, depending on the license category’ concept applied to cars – because a person somewhere decides to commit an evil act of plowing down people at a parade with the car he/she/it is driving then we, who have done nothing wrong and are law abiding, should have our ability to own a car limited to ‘one to three’ cars.
Ok, do I need to point out how stupid Mr. Browne’s idea is?

1. Went to Queen Vic Market in Melbourne and they were having some political rally. There were Trump 2020 flags(!) being flown…
2. Were chatting with a couple and they brought up gun ownership/laws and how it’s such a joke, especially for the farmers. Forget personal safety, etc.
