You’ll Never Guess What Are Now Considered ‘Illegal Firearms’ In New York City

For years, the gun confiscation cartel has tried to reassure Americans that they’re only targeting a narrow category of firearms — scary black rifles and so-called “high capacity” magazines.

But a recent social media post from the NYPD’s 115th Precinct in Queens exposed what many gun owners have warned about all along. The department proudly posted photos online showing officers celebrating the seizure of two “illegal firearms.”

What were those “illegal firearms?”

 

A semi-automatic shotgun and a traditional over-under shotgun — firearms that millions of Americans use every day for hunting, sport shooting, and home defense.

For gun rights advocates, the message was unmistakable. The gun confiscation agenda isn’t just about AR-15s. It’s about all guns.

“Every time the gun confiscation cartel claims they’re only after certain rifles, remember moments like this,” said Texas Gun Rights President Chris McNutt.“Here you have police celebrating the confiscation of two ordinary shotguns. That tells you everything you need to know about where this agenda ultimately leads.”

The Expanding Target List

For years, gun control advocates have insisted they only want to ban so-called “assault weapons.” But many of the “assault weapons” bans introduced in Congress and state legislatures across the country go far beyond rifles.

Many proposals define banned firearms as:

• Most semi-automatic rifles
• Most semi-automatic pistols
• Semi-automatic shotguns
• Any firearm with a detachable magazine holding more than 10 rounds

In other words, critics say, the legislation often targets the overwhelming majority of modern firearms owned by law-abiding Americans. And incidents like the NYPD shotgun seizure show just how far the definition of “illegal gun” can expand once those laws are in place.

The Hypocrisy Problem

The episode also highlights a contradiction frequently pointed out by gun owners. For years, politicians pushing gun bans have tried to portray shotguns as the “acceptable” firearm for self-defense. Former Vice President Joe Biden famously told Americans in 2013 that they should “buy a shotgun” instead of an AR-15 for home protection.

At one point, Biden even suggested that someone facing a threat should “walk out on the balcony and fire two blasts” from a shotgun to scare away intruders. Firearms safety experts and law-enforcement professionals have widely criticized that advice as dangerous and potentially illegal in many jurisdictions.

Yet now, in places like New York, even ordinary shotguns are being treated as contraband.

The End Goal

For gun rights advocates, the NYPD’s viral post simply confirms what they’ve been saying for years. The goalposts keep moving.

First it’s rifles.

Then magazines.

Then pistols.

And eventually, they say, every firearm becomes suspect.

“The gun confiscation agenda always starts with one category of firearm,” McNutt said. “But it never ends there.”

“And moments like this prove that the gun confiscation cartel won’t be satisfied until ordinary Americans are disarmed.”
