Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has introduced legislation that she said will prohibit states from maintaining handgun rosters, which are designed to require firearms to adopt “costly, unnecessary features” that make it difficult to sell new handguns.

The “Modern Firearm Safety Act” was introduced Aug. 20 by Stefanik and Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA).

“I am proud to introduce the Modern Firearm Safety Act to put a stop to the unconstitutional gun-grabbing agenda pushed on law-abiding American citizens by Far Left Democrats like Kathy Hochul. My legislation would ban Albany Democrats from imposing illegal handgun roster requirements meant to deter gun ownership. I will always stand up for our Second Amendment rights and provide a critical check to any entity attempting to encroach on their liberties,” said Stefanik.

  1. Realistically, how many lives have the handgun rosters saved? Now, how many lives have the extremely expensive “green/renewable” energy boondoggles saved? I want numbers.

You know what kills people? Expensive energy kills people. Poverty and inflation kill people. The “green/renewable” energy boondoggles kill people. They also make a select few well-connected people wealthy, while harming the rest of the country. Specifically, how much did the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) lower inflation? We know it raised it. We also know that they’re admitting it was mostly to fight the “climate crisis.” Specifically, how much lower will the temperature be as a result of the IRA, and when will this occur? I want numbers. Now that we have those numbers, how many lives will that save? Zero. It’s zero. Democrat voters keep getting played because they run on emotion. You know the PTB were laughing when they came up with the name Inflation Reduction Act.

    1. Now tell me how many cancer treatments we could have paid for with a trillion dollars. How many patients could we treat for the money we’ve blown on Ukraine? This is all money we didn’t have to spend. The pro-healthcare democrats who keep supporting this wasteful spending are complete jokes. When they say, but you don’t have to pay for that in [insert country], does that country blow a trillion dollars on enriching a select few people in order to lower inflation, or supposedly the temperature lol? Does that country continuously instigate and fund global conflict? They don’t, do they? That’s what we do.

  2. Geoff "I'm getting too old for this shit" PR

This is nice and all, but is she up for re-election, perchance?

Because there’s no way in Hell that will ever be signed into law…

  3. Just plain bill

If by “roster” it is meant a record of possession, I believe it already exists, but not quite legally.
When you buy a gun from a dealer, you fill out paperwork, then dealer enters info into computer for check (NICS feds), also your state (PA is PICS) checked for criminal history.
If approved you get gun. Paperwork goes to BATF.
If memory serves me right, by law this record of purchase iOS to be destroyed within a definite period of time.
At one time I was a certified clean operator, ran my own info, found my purchases.
    I believe records are there.
