U.S. Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has a mighty high opinion of himself. He just ranked himself among the courageous and enlightened Founding Fathers who established the United States as an independent Republic. No, really.
Rep. Raskin spoke with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace about the “No Kings” protests, using it as an opportunity lash out against President Donald Trump. “You know, the first three words of the Constitution refute everything Donald Trump has been trying to do. ‘We the People.’ We don’t have kings here, we don’t have monarchs and queens and dictators,” Rep. Raskin said.
He wasn’t done.
“You know, I said none of us will ever get to be founding fathers in the 18th century, but we can be founding fighters in the 21st!”, Rep. Raskin added, according to Townhall.com.
Tough Comparison
Here are the similarities, from what I can tell, that Rep. Raskin shares with the men who shook off a tyrannical king, fought a war for independence and founded a nation that continues to prosper. It’s not a long list. He’s from Maryland, one of the original 13 colonies, and he serves in Congress.
Beyond that, it’s a tough comparison. However, considering his rather bold claims, here are a few things that demonstrate he shares nothing in common with the Founding Fathers.
First, Rep. Raskin wasn’t shaking off being ruled by a king. President Donald Trump was elected by – wait for it – “We the People.” He wasn’t a king before the protests and isn’t a king after.
Contrasts…Just to Name a Few
That’s in stark contrast to the Founding Fathers. Starting with those who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, 12 years before New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, putting it into effect as the supreme law of the fledgling United States. The signers of the Declaration of Independence were essentially signing a death warrant. They were openly objecting to the sovereignty of King George III. John Hancock, president of the Continental Congress in 1776, already had a bounty on his head. In signing the Declaration he boldy said, “There, John Bull can read my name without spectacles, he may double his reward, and I put his at defiance.”
Fifty-five additional Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, including Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. Several of the signers actively fought against British forces. Legends abound of several more signers facing high personal costs for their actions, though those legends have been challenged.
Rep. Raskin has comfortably served in Congress since 2017 and served in Maryland’s state Senate for nine years prior to that.
Free Men and Arms
In 1791, Congress passed the Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which included the right to keep and bear arms. That was an unequivocal principle for the Founding Fathers who believed private firearm ownership was essential to freedom.
Thomas Jefferson, America’s third president, who helped draft the Declaration of Independence, also drafted Virginia’s Constitution. In his original draft he wrote “No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” The right to keep and bear arms is still protected in Virginia’s Constitution.
James Madison, the “Father of the Constitution” and America’s fourth president, wrote in Federalist 46 that private firearm ownership was an essential trait of the American character. “Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”
Contrast that with Rep. Raskin. He introduced legislation to block defense contracts to firearm manufacturers if criminals misuse their products in crimes. He wants a national permit-to-purchase scheme that would necessitate a national firearm registry. He cosponsored legislation to ban the most popular-selling semiautomatic centerfire rifle in America – the modern sporting rifle. Rep. Raskin wanted to shutter firearm retailers during the COVID-19 pandemic to deny Americans their Second Amendment right to legally purchase a firearm at a time when firearm purchases were at their highest.
That’s a far cry from a “Founding Fighter.” That’s more akin to the British loyalists in the American colonies who supported foreign troops raiding and seizing firearm and powder stores. Let’s not forget the American Revolution was sparked by the Battles of Lexington and Concord, when British regulars marched to seize powder from armories. They were met not by standing armies but by armed citizens who opposed a tyrannical government.
Rep. Raskin’s self-announced title of “Founding Fighter” is a delusion of grandeur.
“You know, the first three words of the Constitution refute everything Donald Trump has been trying to do. ‘We the People.’ We don’t have kings here, we don’t have monarchs and queens and dictators,’ Rep. Raskin said.”
And now we do not have a King or dictator or queen or monarch. And you lie Raskin.
But ya know, when Biden was in office many of “We the people” tried reminding him of that “We the people” part….his response was to rule by fiat via executive order to weaponize the government against “We the people” like a dictator would. And the result of that was basically a reign of terror and fear and tyranny against innocent people exercising their right to freedom of religion, exercising their right to freedom of speech, exercising their right to be secure from unwarranted searches and seizures, exercising their second amendment rights, exercising their rights to privacy, exercising their rights as parents, and a whole lot more these innocent people were suppose to be free from, and murder and rape and crime as a result of his dictator lawlessness in violating immigration law. And you, Raskin, helped Biden inflict this reign terror and fear and tyranny in his dictatorship.
If the founding fathers had been around today – they would have put Raskin and Biden up against a wall and shot both of them. These two, and plenty more of the democrats, are exactly what the founding fathers warned against.
There’s a guy a few streets over who put his homemade “we the people means us” sign in his front yard after the 20 strong blue-haired Boomer dance party to what I assume was a James Taylor cover band Saturday.
I asked him “so, like, that means me too, right?” Knowing how I voted he was not amused.
Their message of unity really just means “for those who agree with me.” I find it insulting and disingenuous the way lefties pretend it doesn’t.
Real unity is easy when you just leave people alone. These tyrants can’t do that so what they want is oppression and control.
I ran into a similar thing prior the election. A few of our local left wingers were at a booth at an event selling T-Shirts. One style was a ‘We The People’ T-shirt.
I had on a ‘Trump-Vance 2024’ cap. I went over and picked up one of the ‘We The People’ shirts and this purple haired creepy kid with more piercing metal in his face than I have ever seen before, grabbed the shirt back and said ‘not for you, you ain’t part of We The People’.
I wanted so bad at that moment to have a hand full of magnets.
You’re a cold man, 40. Woulda made for a good pic though…
Conservatives have had a firm grip on our local politics for decades. One -D mayor a few cycles ago had a short run, but he was pretty middle-of-the-road for a liberal (he was for sure no leftist). He won by a few votes, and he got them mostly because of the novelty of his relative youth.
I recall one major election year, the handful of county Democratic committee members had their meetings in a tavern for easier access to sorrow drowning libations. That would have been 2016.
The BLM/Antifa/No Kings types from out of town have tried to drum up protests on the courthouse lawn, but they they always get laughed out of town. May have been the presence of K-9 units too, that were there to make sure they could speak their piece peacefully. One time, a lift of bricks was mysteriously left in an alley a block from the courthouse, along with a few white rental vans from out of town. The chief had the foresight to post a K-9 unit on a nearby corner, just to make sure that nobody, you know, carried them off.
We didn’t let BLM pull their violence crap here.
They were across the state line in a city there, and the city let them basically do anything they wanted. Although there was a some attempts at looting and mobbing cars, a few police were attacked, a couple coming out of their restaurant they had closed when they saw what was going on was attacked and beaten when they refused to re-open the restaurant for the BLM members to use, and a dumpster fire, for the most part they blocked roadways and were a major irritant and tried to provoke confrontations. But then they started getting more restless they decided to branch out and moved across the state line into our area.
It was dark by now, and we caught them organizing and setting up a staging area in a parking lot of a business that was closed. We organized to, and quietly surrounded them out of sight and had them targeted. They never knew it until a few of us approached them.
We approached them, no guns, just looking like every day normal people. They saw us approach and one of them said “See that guy over there to get your signs” thinking we were there to join their protest. We explained that we just wanted to know what was going on and wanted to talk to who ever was in charge. That raised some eye brows, we waited, and saw more of their people arrive and start setting up their gear and supplies. We few just stood there, the rest of our group had taken up positions surrounding the area and settled into position out of sight. They kept looking at us, and then a few of guys and gals from their group walked up and said if we were not their to join them that we had to leave, and they were not nice about the way they said it.
We had a prepared statement and read it to them:
“We do not care if you peacefully protest. We believe in the first amendment, so go ahead and march and chant and scream and yell and wave your signs and flags, heck, the courts say its a first amendment right to burn the American flag so we can’t do anything about that so if you want to do that then ok even though we would prefer that you didn’t. We welcome you to peacefully protest, we want you to exercise your first amendment right. But, those of you who get violent and attack others or destroy private property or block cars trying to mob them or start fires – we will shoot you. We will even talk to the local cops on scene on your behalf when they show up and tell them you are going to be peaceful and not bother you if you promise to be peaceful and remain peaceful.” (we knew most of the officers that patrolled the area, and their command staff.)
They kinda laughed a little with smirks all around like they were in charge. Then on the radio we called out to the others of our group to show their selves, their were 30 of our group that had been in hidden positions with rifles surround their staging area, they never saw them. Our guys came out and we told the BLM’ers to look around and pointed out our guys.
We said again read out our prepared statement – “We do not care if you peacefully protest. We will even talk to the local cops on scene on your behalf when they show up and tell them you are going to be peaceful and not bother you if you promise to be peaceful and remain peaceful.”
They looked at us with this wide eyed look like ‘something just happened here but we don’t really know what yet and how to react’.
We said “Do you understand. Do you have any questions?”
They did not say a word except telling their people to pack up and leave – and they did.
And that’s how we avoided the BLM violent ‘mostly peaceful’ weekend in our area.
Correction for : “…their were 30 of our group…”
The word ‘their’ should have been ‘there’s.
No, ot wasn’t spell check. It was me not paying attention. It’s early and not enough coffee yet.
😀
‘there’s’…. nope, should have been ‘there’.
Wish we had an edit function here.
“One time, a lift of bricks was mysteriously left in an alley a block from the courthouse, along with a few white rental vans from out of town.”
LE down my way were *appalled* at the way the 2020 BLM protests were conducted and vowed that would never happen down here.
A big part of that was that the police and sheriff’s department responded by being proactive about finding those pallets of bricks and rocks before ‘protests’ started.
And, they found some, to no one’s big surprise. One actual Antifa dressed in their riot gear ‘Black Bloc’ uniforms was targeted and kept an eye on, with uniformed police fairly close by in their mobile high-lift converted into an observation post. Air-conditioned (thanks to Florida’s miserable hot summer heat).
Down here, it was a teachable moment in how to deal with actual fascists.
Let ’em try that game in our small town, and see what happens :

but … the subject of “No Kings” so called protest …
Financial Data Reveals ‘No Kings’ Protests Are Hypocritical Astroturfing.
https://thefederalist.com/2025/06/18/financial-data-reveals-no-kings-protests-are-hypocritical-astroturfing/
‘No Kings’ ‘so called protests’ definition: The documented on video actions of idiots waving a Mexican flag while burning an American flag and police and Waymo vehicles and private and public property, looting going on in the background, breaking into buildings, attacking innocent people (one person ran over a few of them when they mobbed her car trying to break the glass to get in and get to her), and attacking police.
Yeah, they were fighting all right – trying to be founders of anarchy, crazy, crime, a country invasion of illegal aliens, and overall mental illness – because Trump actually enforced the law that Raskin and Biden and a whole bunch of democrats intentionally violated to continue to steal tax payer $$$ from American citizens – and gain power by changing the voting demographic to, in effect, a one-party country in favor of Democrats and unconstitutional reign but you hate the constitution anyway Raskin.
Delusional. And Ignorant. And stupid.
It’s a trifecta Raskin!!!
Not surprisingly, his father founded the Marxist Institute for Policy Studies, a supposed think tank actually funded by East Germany. He comes by his leftism honestly.
While I realize that not all voters in Maryland and other states supported his election, I can’t help but worry about the mental capacity of those who did vote for him. I am sure Raskin like other leftist elites think that when they get to have their One World Order, that they will be the ones running the country, but we all know they are all just pawns of the real power grabbers and once it is in place, they will learn that their so called “status of power” will be as fresh as Hillary Clinton’s 32,000 emails.
