Is the Current Gun Control Push in the States a Rising Trend or a Last Gasp?

We talked a few months ago about how gun rights have recently sustained losses in states where things had previously been stable.

This is either a rising trend or a last gasp. The argument for the former is that it seems to be accelerating. The argument for the latter is that of course it’s accelerating — states always pass performatively extreme laws when they know the Supreme Court is getting ready to strike them down.

The Supreme Court probably is going to curtail AWB laws in the next couple years, so “this is the last gasp” is probably the correct analysis. But that doesn’t make the laws any less real. The Supreme Court is a last line of defense for vindicating individual liberties, and more often than not, it abdicates that role at the crucial moment. So if you’re in a position where you need a Supreme Court ruling to go your way, you need to improve your position.

This is all just a reminder of the order of operations we always come back to: tech → culture → politics. Politics is the furthest downstream, which makes it the least stable one to rely on. You could even tack “law” onto the end, downstream of politics. Keep focused upstream. Doing a good job there makes the job downstream much easier.

Its getting to be time for that 2A resist tyranny thing, and deposing these left wing anti-constitution, anti-American, marx*ist soc* ialist, traitor politicians. The soap box has been tried and it results in endless argument and discussion. The ballot box has been tried and it results in these traitorous politicians cheating and lying their way into office. The jury (judicial means) box has been tried and it results in a ‘forever’ legal battle with no firm resolution that stops them from coming up with more and/or simply ignoring court decisions or doing work around that is clearly unconstitutional, and they have not stopped. The next box is the cartridge (ammunition) box.

We can keep playing this judicial and political game, and our children and their children will still be playing those games in the future and it will go on and on – or – we can make it so costly for these left wing anti-constitution, anti-American, marx*ist soc* ialist, traitor politicians that they will tend towards not doing it or even consider not running for office. Our country founding generation and founders did not fight a war to defeat the worlds most powerful military force and country of the time (the British) and their tyranny, and establish a constitutional republic and Constitution with rights of the people for it to be discussed or judicial-zed or legalized or political’d into oblivion, they did not sacrifice to have the rights that belong to the people controlled and done away with, by the tyranny of a bunch of left wing anti-constitution, anti-American, marx*ist soc* ialist, traitor politicians or any government or ‘private’ body.

As long as these left wing anti-constitution, anti-American, marx*ist soc* ialist, traitor politicians can keep us playing their ‘you don’t like it then take us to court’ games they will keep doing it.

  2. If only legislatures could be sued under 18 U.S.C. § 242 for deprivation of rights under color of law (ie, remove their qualified immunity).

The only current remedy for legislatures passing (blatantly) unconstitutional laws is expensive, time consuming lawsuits. I do not consider “recall elections” or “getting primaried” to be remedies as they do not overturn the law AND inflict significant punishment on those that sponsored the bill.

It would certainly make legislatures think twice before proposing or advancing a bill.

  3. The stereotype the left wing tells us doesn’t exist, well, existed again: Another Year of Absolute Mayhem in Daytona Beach.

  4. The left keeps pushing harder and harder in waging its civil war. They’ve repudiated the principle of peaceful transfer of power. They keep telling us what they intend to do to tear down the republic if they ever gain power again.

Disarming the resistance is just part of their plan.

  5. What are YOU doing for gun rights? Do you support a club? Support the NRA? (Is the NRA still a thing?). Have you let your elected representatives know that gun rights matter to you and your family? These are the things which make a difference.

  6. “The Supreme Court probably is going to curtail AWB laws in the next couple years…”
As has been said pretty consistently for the last three decades.
