The Democratic National Committee has had their fill of young gun control activist and DNC vice-chair David Hogg, who was elected in February. On Wednesday, the DNC announced their Hogg is out and they’re planning another election for his position and that of another member of DNC leadership.
“I came into this role to play a positive role in creating the change our party needs. It is clear that there is a fundamental disagreement about the role of a Vice Chair—and it’s OK to have disagreements. What isn’t OK is allowing this to remain our focus when there is so much more we need to be focused on. Ultimately, I have decided to not run in this upcoming election so the party can focus on what really matters,” Hogg wrote in a widely circulated press release.
Hogg, who is 25, has fought hard with DNC chair Ken Martin, who is 51. Hogg’s latest battle involved his plan to dole out cash to candidates who challenge “asleep-at-the-wheel Democrats.”
Martin strongly disagreed with Hogg’s proposal and didn’t accept his offer. Martin said it was infinitely more important for DNC officials to remain neutral in primaries rather than to support individual candidates.
Finally, according to a story in Politico, Hogg made a last-minute offer to Martin in which he promised to adhere to an “internal firewall in which he would stay on as vice chair but be barred from accessing any internal DNC information about congressional and state legislative races as long as he was supporting challengers.”
Martin rejected Hogg’s final offer and arranged new elections.
The DNC used the party’s gender leadership representation quota rules to dump Hogg. As Semafor reports. . .
Last month, the DNC’s rules and bylaws committee recommended that the full party vote to hold new elections, siding with Democratic activist Kalyn Free, who’d lost the Feb. 1 election for vice chair. On Wednesday afternoon, the DNC announced that the party had voted to approve Free’s challenge by a 294-99 margin, and would hold new elections on the grounds that the Feb. 1 vote had violated its rules.
In the new election, under the party’s gender parity rules, one vice chair slot would be reserved for a male candidate, and one slot could go to a candidate of any gender. Malcolm Kenyatta, who was elected to the male vice chair slot on Feb. 1, had won more votes than Hogg that day; Hogg won the second slot over Free and two other female candidates.
In other words, Hogg was too masculine to remain in a DNC leadership position. According to multiple media reports, Hogg will not run for his DNC vice-chairmanship again.
Not the Only Concern
Hogg’s political action committee, Leaders We Deserve, contributed $12,600 to Democrats from 2023 to 2024, yet during the same period it spent more than $2 million on web ads and more than $1 million on “campaign events and activities,” according to OpenSecrets.org.
Hogg’s PAC also gave $24,000 to the Ban Assault Weapons Now PAC, the group’s largest donation to a PAC or committee from 2023-2024.
Hogg has only been a DNC member since Feb. 1, 2025, yet his four months in office were filled with controversy, none more so than a story in Politico, in which DNC officials accused Hogg of secretly recording and leaking an online DNC meeting.
According to the Politico story, Martin shared his frustrations with Hogg and with other DNC officials. Hogg, Martin said, made it harder for the Democratic Party to operate day-to-day, and “had ruined his ability to demonstrate leadership.”
“No one knows who the hell I am, right? I’m trying to get my sea legs underneath of me and actually develop any amount of credibility so I can go out there and raise the money and do the job I need to, to put ourselves in a position to win,” Martin said addressing Hogg, according to Politico. “And again, I don’t think you intended this, but you essentially destroyed any chance I have to show the leadership that I need to. So, it’s really frustrating.”
During the online meeting, Martin told Hogg that his constant fighting was getting in the way of the DNC’s mission and goals.
“It has plenty of warts, and we’re all trying to change those, for sure, but the longer we continue this fight, the harder it is for us to actually do what we all want to do, which is make a difference in this country again,” Politico reported. “I deeply respect you, David. I, too, was looking forward to working with you, but this has created a situation.”
Hogg is perhaps best known as a survivor of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. He began building a career around anti-gun advocacy by blaming the NRA for the Parkland shooting, all evidence to the contrary.
None of the other students who survived the attack were able to exploit the horrific event as well as Hogg, even though the opinions he expressed to the growing media coverage were often nonsensical and outright wrong. For example, Hogg posted on X/Twitter that an individual has no right to own a firearm. He also claimed that the Second Amendment is “about a states right to have what is today the national guard. The modern interpretation of 2A is a ridiculous fraud pushed for decades by the gun lobby.”
Following the January 6th attack, Hogg tweeted, “They can put up all the fencing around the capitol [but] the real threats of [Congresswoman Marjory Taylor Greene] and [Congresswoman Lauren Bobert] will still be inside until @GOPLeader takes a stand.”
Bobert simply replied: “Give your keyboard a rest, child.”

What a piece of work is Hogg.
The sheer repetitiveness in his statement at the start of the article speaks to his thoughtfulness and eloquence.
Pity he didn’t last longer in the role. But I look forward to seeing what he’s going to doom-spiral next.
They wouldn’t have let him win this time anyway. They let him win the first time because the main role is raising money. Hogg is good at that.
Will any of the Democrat-voting drones notice that Democrat-controlled elections are essentially a sham? Bernie even admitted it. He was recently on a podcast with Andrew Schulz, who asked if that’s the case, then aren’t Democrats a threat to democracy? Bernie actually said yes!
Bernie is a magical being. He can speak of Democrat corruption while toeing the party line. He can praise the American worker while holding open the border to deflate wages. He can espouse the value of unionization while making sure no industry can thrive here. He can run a 30 year warning of the coming oligarchs and plutarchs as he flies first class from one of his many houses to another.
A real champion of the people if ever there was.
Bernie is such a coward. It’s weird how some people still see him in a positive light. He used to speak out about immigration holding wages down. Democrats forgot that Cesar Chavez was opposed to illegal immigration because it undermined labor. Too many people have been brainwashed.
Poor Hogg boy, he’s like Rodney Dangerfield and gets no respect. Unlike Hogg, Dangerfield earned some respect…
Bobert hit it on the head.
“Last month, the DNC’s rules and bylaws committee recommended that the full party vote to hold new elections, siding with Democratic activist Kalyn Free, who’d lost the Feb. 1 election for vice chair.”
How typical, they select, instead of elect, their leadership. Just like in 2016 and 2024.
How did that work for them?
It wasn’t ‘masculinity’ that doomed Hogg-boy, he tried to grift master grifters, the DNC itself, when he ‘borrowed’ the donor e-mail mail list to beg for money.
THAT’s what doomed him. It will be interesting to see where he pops up next, because we’re not finished seeing him yet, by a long shot…
He wasn’t too masculine, he was an additional wart.
donkey punched.
“survivor”. He survived from his couch at home, then went to the school after the situation was over. Please stop using that label.
As much as Hogg has lied and scammed its difficult to believe him concerning the shooting, and I would not believe him on anything of importance. But the truth, his beginning as an anti-gun poster boy, is this:
Hogg was on campus during the shooting. But he returned later after twilight to supposedly interview people across the street from the school for a story. But conveniently there was a news crew on scene and he supposedly approached them and offered an interview, and that’s how he came to attention of, and became the love-child of, Everytown and their poster boy until he milked that dry and started scamming them so they dumped him.
(The real truth on this point of the news crew is most likely that he contacted the local station and offered an interview and arranged to meet them at the school. The scene had cleared of news crews that had left hours before. And now one lone news crew just happens to show up and Hogg is there? That’s a bit too much to think it anything but a planned meeting.)
But, Hogg was at the school during the shooting in an AP environmental science class, around 2:30 p.m. He heard the shots and told his teacher it sounded strangely like a gunshot. But there had been a fire drill that morning and talk of a “Code Red” exercise to prepare for an active shooter so Hogg and students thought the sounds were part of a “Code Red” exercise.
And then the fire alarm sounded. Hogg and other students tried to exit the building. A janitor knew where the shots were coming from and sent the students back. Then a culinary arts teacher, Ashley Kurth, pulled Hogg and others inside, locked the door, and made them hide in a closet.
The original story’s saying he was not on campus accidentally took parts of an interview out of context because of the way the main stream covered it with confusing quotes without context [context actually does matter], and that lack of context made it appear that he said he was not at the school when the shooting happened. In reality Hogg was at the school during the shooting, safely in a closet with other students on the other side/end of the school and browsing the internet for news on his phone and making video of the reactions of the other students in the closet with him.
The truth is also this: Hogg doesn’t really care there was a school shooting. He’s trying to milk the anti-gun thing, and lately the DNC, for all the money he can get out of it. This stuff brings in money, donors and NGO’s funneling cash into the coffers, If there wasn’t any money in it for him you would never have heard of him. That interview he offered the news crew – he wanted to be paid for it or no interview.
But to add: Because Hogg was in the school that day, does not make him a ‘survivor’ of a school shooting.
First, the shooting was ‘removed’ from where Hogg was – it was elsewhere in the school and didn’t physically threaten Hoog or the other students in the secured location closet with him.
Second, although horrifying and terrifying by being in the area of the shooting the fact that Hogg the other students in the closet with him were never victimized by actual attack due to their secure location is akin to being across the street from a violent robbery happening at a store (the distance Hogg and the other students were from actual attack was actually a little more distance and the shooter was moving away from them). In other words, being ‘around’ the area does not make one a ‘survivor’ of such an event. Don’t get me wrong, its a horrible thing to have a mentally ill monster killing people and I’m sure the other students in the closet with Hogg were scared and that can be traumatic. But Hogg expresses in actions and words as a sociopath and lacked empathy, disregarded the feelings of those students that day (all he wanted to do was record their reactions in the closet) and he tried to manipulate those students into giving their reactions to him for his own personal gain, and later tried to use the shooting as a tool to manipulate others (Everytown and the DNC and the general public) for his personal gain (which led to him being dumped by Everytown as their poster boy, and an outgrowth ‘expansion’ from that sociopath personna eventually led to him being dumped by the DNC).
So even though at the school that day and time of the shooting – Hogg really isn’t a ‘survivor’
“…the DNC announced they’re Hogg is out and they’re planning another election…”
There’s they’re, their, and there- it behooves writers to use them appropriately..
“…the DNC announced they’re Hogg is out and they’re planning another election…”
unless the writer was intending to convey … “…the DNC announced they’re Hogg is out and they are planning another election…” in which case the use of “…they’re…” is correct.
He needs to marry Greta so they can have the worst children in the world.
If whining were an inheritable superpower, it would be a force to be reckoned with.
Hogg wasn’t a survivor of the shooting. He heard about it on TV and bicycled to the scene to become part of the tragedy.
