I live somewhere with more strict gun laws (which I approve of). However I’m required to have several references to vouch for me before I can legally purchase a handgun as self defense in my own home. All of my friends and family members are strictly anti-gun. My family as been a victim of mass shootings so that’s a major no go. And all of my friends are simply unwilling to hear people out regarding a firearm in their own home no matter the circumstances.
I think something changed in me over the years, but I basically don’t want to feel like I’m being cucked from owning a firearm to protect myself in my own home.
Does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to navigate this? Again, I’m not a gun enthusiast, I really just want the barebones handgun that can give me a sense of security in my own home.

Its hard to tell with these types, they tend to exaggerate and have a very loose to non-existent grasp on reality (i.e. representatively…. a single trans person gets murdered by someone who is left wing liberal and part of the LGBTQ+ community and its automatically a ‘genocide by right wing extremism or MAGA’, but a trans person that murders children and adults in mass/school shootings then its thousands of these left winger liberals cheer the murderer and want to kill more conservatives.)

Ya see this is how it works with left wingers especially left wing liberals: You go along with everything they want and you are good to go. But the second you do something that’s contrary to their desires you have become the ‘enemy’, and at the very least no longer a ‘trusted’ part of ‘them’, which means they hate you and not the gun because you did not pass their ‘purity test’ by going against the delusional hive mind group-think requirement that you do as they demand and not have a gun.
Its like a certain trans ‘de-transitioner’ experienced… while they were going along with it and protesting with them they loved this person. Then the day came when she realized that she was not actually a he, so wanted to be female after all (despite the fact that she had her breasts cut off in her teens at the instance of her mom and the ‘gender affirming’ doctor and was filled with the years of sex-change drugs damage she would never recover from) – her group of LGBTQ+ ‘close friends’ tried to kill her and her mother disowned her. She no longer passed their ‘purity test’.
