Modularity is your friend. Pistols like the SIG P320 and P365, Springfield Echelon, Beretta APX and others that let you pick and choose exactly the components you want from an ever-expanding universe of parts that enable you to build exactly the gun(s) you want for carry, home defense, competition…whatever. Shorter or longer slides, polymer or aluminum grips, micro-compact up to full-size, you can do it all using just one “gun.” These pistols’ central fire control groups are serialized and the only part that legally qualifies as a firearm in the eyes of our friends at ATF.
That means you can buy once and have lots and lots of handguns by buying, mixing, and matching. The folks at Tyrant CNC, who’ve long been in the business of making aftermarket parts for pistols and AR-15s, have recently gotten into the grip business with their new Snub Nose grip module for P365 pistols.

There are lots of good reasons to switch out the factory grip on your modular pistol…better grip size, improved texture, bigger beavertail, more or less weight, the list goes on. And if you’re hesitant for some reason, it takes about three minutes to swap the grip on a P365. All you have to do is punch one pin holding the fire control group in place. Even I can do that.
Tyrant’s Snub Nose grip module has an extended beavertail, a nice moderate undercut, an excellent grip texture, and their better-than-factory magazine release already built in.
Tyrant lists their Snub Nose as being compatible with all P365 slides, and that’s technically true. The only P365 I own, though, is the P365-FUSE (which has quickly become my favorite full-size pistol and the only one I occasionally carry). That’s the full-length version SIG introduced last year and I’m guessing Tyrant designed the Snub Nose before SIG announced the FUSE.

As you can see, using the Snub Nose grip with the the FUSE slide exposes some recoil spring. That’s not ideal, but it works and still let me carry and shoot the gun with the Snub Nose long enough to get a good feel for it. The Snub Nose will work perfectly with all P365 slides up to and including the P365 XL.
The Snub Nose keeps the P365’s appealingly slim form factor that makes it such a pleasure to carry. It also has a great texture — made up of a series of Tyrant CNC’s chevron logo — that’s grippy enough to do the job, but doesn’t scrape your skin as much as the skateboard tape-like finish on the factory FUSE grip module if you carry without a t-shirt.

Tyrant ships the Snub Nose with two backstraps, medium and large. The medium backstrap feels great in my small hand and the large should work for anyone with even the biggest paws. In short, its ergos are excellent.
Tyrant makes the Snub Nose in four appropriately tactical colors so you can trick out your P365 any way you like to match your wardrobe or your mood and it’s priced at $79.95. In short, I’m a fan and plan to use it regularly…as soon as I get a more appropriate length slide.

I don’t get the full-size grip/short slide concept for concealed carry. The grip is what prints while the slide is concealed in my pants. I run my P365 in L config with a short Wilson Combat P365 grip and XL slide. The short grip is easier to conceal while the longer slide balances better. The exposed recoil spring on the Fuse slide looks janky. I suppose it would look all right with an L slide.
I’m guessing from the price it’s a polymer grip, will it come in a dyeable color. A Co. With CNC in their name could conceivably offer a aluminum version, or maybe a steel variant. That might be neat but more money of course, in sexy ceracoated fashion colors and other treatments 😉
