Midwest Industries recently announced their new Triangle Side Folding Stock, Minimalist Side Folding Stock, and a Side Folding Arm Brace for use on Picatinny end plates. If you’re rocking a rifle or pistol build with a Picatinny end plate, these offer some nice ways to add a stock or brace, or update what you already have.
Triangle Side Folding Stock
First up is the Triangle Side Folding Stock. This one has a classic pattern, somewhat reminiscent of the AKSu-74 side folder, but it looks a lot better made. It’s constructed from hard coat anodized 6061 aluminum and uses a heavy-duty 4140 heat treated steel side-folding mechanism. It’s a full length stock and can be configured to right or left folding. It has solid lock up in both the open and closed positions.
The Triangle Side folder has a polymer cheek piece and a rubber butt pad for better comfort, especially compared to military style triangular side folding stocks. It comes with a whopping 5 QD sling attachment points too. The stock adds 9.25 inches to overall firearm length, but only 0.75 inches to the length of the firearm when folded. Weight is just 19 ounces. The stock is made in the USA and carries a Midwest Industries Lifetime Warranty. The stock comes in Black, FDE, or Olive Drab finishes and has an MSRP of $209.95 – $229.95 depending on which color you choose.
Minimalist Side Folding Stock
The Minimalist Side Folding Stock is similarly constructed of hard coat anodized 6061 aluminum with a 4140 heat treated steel side-folding mechanism. It also has 5 QD sling attachment points, a polymer cheek piece and rubber butt pad, and an be configured for right or let side folding.
Like the Triangle stock it adds 9.25 inches to overall firearm length but just 0.75 inches in length folded. Where it differs is in the simpler, sleeker L shaped stock pattern. It shaves a bit of weight off as well and is only 15.7 ounces. It’s still made in the USA and carries the same warranty. The Minimalist also comes in black, FDE or OD and has the same $209.95 – $229.95 MSRP.
Side Folding Arm Brace
Last up is the Side Folding Arm Brace. It shares the same construction materials as the other two stocks, as well as the general features. being a brace is lacks a butt pad or cheek rest, but does maintain the 5 QD sling attachment points. It too can be configured for right or left hand folding.
The Side Folding Arm Brace adds just 9 1/8 inches to overall firearm length, and the same 0.75 inches when folded. Weight is a touch less than the Minimalist stock at 14.2 ounces. A Velcro strap is also included, but not shown in Midwest’s photos. Like the stocks, the brace is made in the USA and has the same Midwest warranty. MSRP varies based upon the choice of Black, FDE or OD colors and is once again $209.95 – $229.95.
