Checking out what’s new and interesting at GunCon, I’m drawn drawn to the weird and the different. The new Derya RANX pistol spoke to me.

The RANX is a Winchester 1892 clone that’s been…modernized. Its most distinctive feature is a folding brace that’s attached to the pistol grip. I did say weird…

A Modern Terminator Gun?
The RANX pistol offers a new take on the lever-action design, combining traditional operation with modern features in a compact pistol format. It features a monoblock steel receiver which Derya says enhances durability and strength while minimizing vibration compared to many imported options (the RANX is made in Florida). That results in smoother function and better accuracy over time. It’s available in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 Long Colt and holds four to six rounds, depending on the caliber.
A black Melonite finish shields the pistol from harsh conditions while providing a sleek, very tactical look. The gun measures 22.8 inches in length, has a 12-inch barrel, and weighs 5.5 pounds unloaded, making it a very handy little lever gun. The platform is designed to be both portable and functional.

Unique Features
The RANX stands out in its adaptability. Its aluminum Ironwolf grip includes STEEL FANG PSB technology, adjustable features, M-LOK compatibility, and a QD attachment point, enabling shooters to customize the fit to their preferences.
Up front is an aluminum M-LOK forend with an integrated Picatinny rail supporting a wide range of accessories. There’s also a threaded barrel providing suppressor compatibility. Fixed front and adjustable rear sights work with a Pic rail, making it easy to transition from traditional irons to modern optics.
Sadly, I wasn’t able to shoot this gun at range day. I’m not sure how I missed it, but I did. The booth must have been busy when I went by, and I never circled back. However, I had a great discussion with the Derya team on the day of the show. While Derya is a Turkish company, it’s increasingly bringing production to the United States. .
While I mostly see this gun as a novelty, it would make an excellent suppressor host. And given its size, it would be a very feasible truck gun. That said, I’m not sure how comfortable the brace is. With $0 tax stamps now, I’d like to see Derya offer the same type of gun as an SBR (you could, of course, Form 1 it yourself and easily add a stock).
Zooming Out
GunCon is definitely the place to find some cool and unique items. The Derya RANX fits that bill.
