Defensive Gun Use: Homeowner’s Gun vs. Midnight Moron

Kitchen entry burglar home invasion SuperGrok

Do high schools today vote on who’s most likely to regret their life choices? Maybe they should and we bring a candidate. A perfectly normal Somerset Township, Pennsylvania homeowner was sleeping comfortably, dreaming about literally anything other than uninvited guests when he hears pounding on his kitchen window.

Some unnamed genius decided that the best way to make new friends (at zero-dark-thirty) is to pound a stranger’s window while demanding to be let inside.

Our fearless homeowner, clearly in no mood for the early morning demands of a wacko, grabbed his firearm and called the cops. He also delivered a clear warning to the window breaker to cease the unlawful behavior. Or else. “Go Away! I’m armed. Police are on the way.” Mr. Window-Smasher didn’t listen and broke out the window and commenced to enter the home.

The homeowner, living out every “What would you do if…?” scenario Reddit loves to argue over, did exactly what was needed to stop the violent and illegal entry. He fired to stop the attack.

Problem solved. Intruder down.

Police rolled up to find a would be intruder who had stopped all respiratory activity. They took the homeowner downtown for the world’s most awkward coffee talk…one that lasts for an hour or three, because apparently Mr. Homeowner hadn’t seen the internet classic, “Don’t Talk to the Police.

Despite not lawyering up, the homeowner was given a ride home without being charged. The police probably kept his gun for evidence. Meanwhile, Mr. Unnamed window smasher was given a ride to the morgue. Along with a Darwin Award Honorable Mention certificate.

CBS News Pittsburgh has the story:

Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release on X that troopers were called to a home on Locust Street in Somerset Township around 2 a.m. on Monday for the reported shooting. At the home, investigators found one person dead near the back of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

State police said the homeowner told investigators that he was awakened by loud banging on his kitchen window and a man demanding to be let in. The news release said the man broke a window and attempted to enter the home. The homeowner told authorities he warned the man that he was armed and then shot him when he continued attempting to enter the home.

Happy ending for the home owner, sudden lights-out ending for the very weak wattage bulb in the home invader head.
