Seattle Neighbors Close Down Streets After More Shootings and Years of City Inaction

One week ago, bullets blasted through the wall of a Greenwood neighborhood home and passed within inches of a window where a six-week-old baby boy was sleeping in his bassinet.

Saturday morning, roughly 40 shell casings were on the pavement near Aurora Avenue N. and N. 98th Street in Seattle after another shootout near the Burgermaster.

By daylight, the neighbors had had enough.

Residents along Seattle’s North Aurora corridor stopped waiting on City Hall. They hauled in large industrial steel planters and blocked off three residential side streets at N. 97th, 98th, and 102nd Streets near where they meet Aurora Avenue N. Neighbors said a representative from the mayor’s office and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) came out to push back. They were waved off.

“We’re honestly not thinking long term right now,” one neighbor said, asking not to be identified out of fear of retribution from pimps and dealers operating along the Aurora Avenue corridor.

“We’re sick of this,” he added, citing a lack of action from city leaders. “We’re going to close the streets.” …

Organizers attached a letter to each of the planters. Its message was direct.

“For more than three years, many of us have been engaging almost daily with city officials, law enforcement, SDOT, and other local agencies to find both immediate and long-term solutions,” the letter read. “Homes have been hit by gunfire, narrowly missing children. Our military veterans, thinking they’d found a peaceful neighborhood, are now suffering from PTSD.”

The letter notes that after last summer’s Aurora Avenue shootout, which drew national attention, SDOT agreed to close two residential streets at Aurora and planned to close several more. That order never came from the mayor’s office. The gun violence moved deeper into the Seattle neighborhood instead.

Left wing ideology is deadly. Its an ‘infecting disease’ that kills slowly over time. It sounded all bubbly and happy when your left wing city leaders were running for office …’oh the poor justice impacted individuals…let them roam freely’ and your moron left wing voters were happy about it and voted for it. Well, now that ‘bubbly and happy’ left wing ideology is doing what it always does, its killing your community and trying to kill you.

Left wing ideology mental illness logic thinks it stops a threat by not addressing the actual threat: San Francisco YMCA bans nudity after trans member exposes himself to women, children.

[note: the actual solution would have been to not let men pretending to be women into biological female spaces. They seriously think a man pretending to be a woman would not be a threat in such spaces just because they ban nudity. Look at what happened, the guy stopped coming and that’s true but he did not stop coming because because of the ban on nudity – he stopped coming because he could no longer satisfy his perverted desire to expose himself to women and children. He was a threat, and even if he comes back without the nudity he would still be a threat with that demented perverted predator mind set. They been working to get rid of this guy for 2 years, this is a not an isolated incident and its an on going pattern and its the same pattern exhibited by over (as of November 2025) 60% of trans (male>female) as they have sex-crime convictions and the pattern always included being allowed into women only spaces.]

  3. Is this like the anti-CHOP?
    lol.

Maybe lock up criminals and stop excusing their criminal actions with pseudo-academic wokey mental gymnastic bullshit?

    Just a thought.

Or…. if the city will not lock them up and clear out the streets then maybe stop being a bunch of defenseless morons and return fire by being smart about it and forming your own trained armed community defense units to handle it. 😊

Its not unknown, its recommended by the country founders, and its not ‘vigilantism’. The Founding Fathers believed that local militias were essential for the defense and public safety of communities, as they allowed towns to organize their own forces for protection.

Its obvious their left wing city government cares more for the criminal pimps and drug dealers and has abandoned this community.

Those military veterans they claim are in their community… if they actually exist and are worth anything they know the truth, they know that ‘tersely worded or pleading-begging letters’ and ‘planters’ do not stop the ‘criminal’ enemy actively engaged with dominating the ‘battle space’ with force and oppressing and endangering the inhabitants – they know that deterrence capability of force bought to bear is what stops such.

Of course though, the left winger city government would have a break down over a community doing this. But ya know what? That same left wing city government abandoned you, facilitated this criminal activity – so the heck with them and their crying about it so just do it and you don’t need to ask permission to justifiably defend your self and family and community.

Sleepless in Seattle: Residents Forced to Take Crimefighting Into Their Own Hands As Police Do Nothing.

Now perhaps more white people will understand, why the Black Panther party for Self-Defense, began their city street intersection, private citizens traffic control operation. After the neighborhood please for a red traffic light installation, were ignored by the city of Oakland. And there were many traffic accidents and several deaths at this city street intersection.

That is how it all began. In the beginning it was not about communism or robbing banks. It wasn’t even about protesting the police in the beginning.

The black residents of that oakland california city neighborhood, just wanted a traffic light.

And just as the public believed that back in the 1966, it was just a very extreme measure, to protest in public that way. And now in the 21st-century, there will be many people who believe, that a neighborhood blocking off a street. Because of all the violence they have had to endure, and was ignored by city officials when they asked for help. Many will say that their street protest is just an overreaction. It’s an extreme measure to someting that is really no big deal.

As I recall in the St Louis Missouri area, it was two men dressed in fatigues. The Oath Keepers. They began carrying long guns, and they stopped all the rioting, back there a few years ago. And they did not point their guns at anyone, and they didn’t shoot anyone either.

And of course, there were many instances of private citizens in groups, openly carrying their guns during the “summer lez,bi,@n love”. Starting in 2020.

All because the police were ordered to stand down by their local city officials. While the innocents were murdered, where they stood, and the city was burned to the ground.

If the organized government that we instituted and vote for, is not addressing our needs. We, as free people, do not have to simply put up with the cr@p that is being dished out on to us.

I like open carry when its done in safely. And its a act of the 1st amendment.

    1. bp did much worthwhile community stuff despite being involved in sketchy thangs. but they kinda screwed up when they open carried in too sensitive of a location… just because you can… mulford.
as isms go, the vigilant one is inevitable. folks are holding and can mete justice.
i find this headline rawther misleading as i believe only a very few barricades have been erected.

You really DO get the government that you (voters) deserve. You created the entire situation. No sympathy for any of you.
