It seems that nowhere is safe, not even the posh neighborhoods of LA where the rich and famous live. In the predawn hush of Porter Ranch, a tony suburb of LA, the $3-million mansion of “King” Combs and his girlfriend Raven Tracy was targeted — again — for a home invasion.
Christian (aka “King”), son of P. Diddy Combs, and his girlfriend weren’t home at the time. They were 8,000 miles away in Bali, soaking in tropical sunsets while his dad serves his prison sentence. A house manager was inside the residence, half-dozing in the media room with security feeds glowing on a nearby screen when sounds of the attempted break-in roused him just after midnight.
Neighbors two doors down heard a pop and dialed 911 reporting gunshots. But the mansion’s cameras captured the truth: two figures in dark hoodies crouched on a rear patio, prying at the sliding glass door with a crowbar. The first blow cracked the thick pane and the second sent shards flying. They moved with practiced efficiency, one keeping watch while the other jammed a gloved hand toward the latch.
This almost certainly wasn’t a random attack. The property had already been targeted the previous summer, during the height of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial. Now this pair of hoodlums seemed determined to break in while the son and the girlfriend were half a world away.
The intruders never crossed the threshold. They heard the “house manager” moving around and probably feared he’d be coming with a gun in his hand. Sources say one figure froze, head snapping toward the sound. After a quick exchange, both thugs bolted, melting into the backyard shadows.
When the LAPD cruisers rolled up, cops found the patio littered with broken glass and a discarded crowbar. Nothing was stolen. No one was hurt. Detectives later reviewed the footage confirming at least two suspects. King, an aspiring rap star, texted his circle of pals with his own brand of eloquence: “House tried to get got again. We good.”
An attempted burglary was reported at a Los Angeles home linked to Christian “King” Combs, the son of Sean “Diddy” Combs, and his girlfriend.
Police received a call around 12:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, reporting an attempted burglary at a home on the 11900 block of Churchill Way in the Porter Ranch neighborhood, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE.
The spokesperson said the suspects tried to enter the residence by breaking a rear sliding glass door but were unsuccessful and “fled the location.” The residents were not home at the time, and no arrests have been made, they added. The LAPD declined to release the names of the residents.
Property records reviewed by PEOPLE link Raven Tracy McEachin, Christian’s longtime girlfriend, to the address. TMZ was the first to report the burglary attempt.
The investigation continues with no arrests, but that’s the norm in big, deep blue cities like LA. Crime without consequences.
It’s why gun sales remain steady, even where government does everything it can to discourage armed self-defense. Because people know that when seconds count, cops are minutes away. At best. And the only thing that stops bad people with evil in their hearts is a good guy or gal with a gun.
