Nearly half of non-immigration-related arrests during President Trump’s D.C. takeover have taken place in two of the most crime-ridden areas, according to an analysis the White House shared with Axios.
Why it matters: The figures refute critics who claimed the takeover was all for show or was not targeting high-crime areas, per a White House official who crunched the numbers this weekend.

By the numbers: 212 people have been arrested for various crimes during the federal takeover since Aug. 8, according to White House data that excludes all immigration-related arrests.

- 101 of those arrests, or 48%, took place in Wards 7 and 8, home to many low-income and working-class majority-Black neighborhoods of Washington. They have long experienced the most violent crime in the city.
- There were 24 gun-related charges in Ward 8, and 11 in Ward 7.
- Altogether, there were 31 narcotics-related charges, seven DUIs, and two assaults.
- Meanwhile, immigration-related arrests since Aug. 8 total 164. Many of those arrests also included additional criminal charges, such as assault or drug distribution.
What they’re saying: Throughout the city, National Guard troops are stationed in “high traffic areas to provide a visible law enforcement presence to deter crime,” the White House official said.

No, POTUS has no authority to ‘take over’ local law enforcement (outside of the FEDERAL DISTRICT of DC), and I don’t think he should. Local government means local. OTOH, there are a number of high-crime cities in “red” states, that seriously need some cleaning up. While POTUS can’t legally do it (short of a national emergency or war, and then only to a limited degree), the constitutions of many “red” states would allow the governor or state legislature to take action.
Here’s hoping some red state governors learn from DJT’s example. Louisville, St. Louis, Little Rock, and a number of other cities, who have long been under monolithic Dimocrat control, could (in the immortal words of Jack Nicholson as The Joker) use an enema.

Yes they can. They can certainly arrest everyone that commits crimes if the government wants to. Now the democrat/libertarian government doesn’t want to arrest and prosecute criminals. You see that in Seattle, Los Angeles, Oakland, Denver, and other cities.
Now if we could just kill criminals outright, when we catch them robbing, raping, stealing, breaking into or damaging private property. Our government would be much smaller.
But the people who say, “they can’t arrest everyone.” They will be the first ones to call the police on you, when you try to protect what you own.
And that is exactly what happened to Joe horn in Texas. When he shot and killed 2 illegal aliens with long criminal records, who broke into his neighbor’s home and then tried to assault him.
There is nothing wrong with taking the law into your own hands. Unfortunately in most places that is illegal.
